I need to not get on this board for a while I think. Y'all have fun, and Roll Tide.

We only beat MSU that year by 7 and we scored very late in that one to win.

Revisionist history is a hell of a thing. Like not even mentioning Bama was down to the 4th string slow white guy at LB due to the insane amount of injuries that year.

What the hell did Bill O'Brien develop at QB??

He knew he was here for 2 years max. He was going to ride Bryce and didn't give a damn about developing anyone else.

Tua would have lit them up.

Keep making excuses though.

Saban said on the Pat McAfee show today that we may have played with too much anxiety against Texas. He said something similar after the Tennessee loss last season.

Per Mike Rodak:
quote:

Saban's full answer: "There's two things that can happen to you: You can focus on the outcome or you can focus on the systems that are going to get the outcome that you need to get. You got to be in the right emotional place to be able to do that. I think at times, maybe we weren't. Maybe we were focused on the outcome. Maybe we played with a little too much anxiety. I think attention to detail and playing to the standard and understanding how you get to that -- by focusing on the details which you have to do play-in and play-out would actually help us, because we made some mistakes in the game that were very, very costly."

What the hell is with this anxiety shite we are hearing every year now? Why is it different now than 3 or 4 years ago? What has changed?

Just another excuse.

One starting OL said we didn't take them seriously.

Seems like to me that since Covid, "anxiety" is a huge buzz word and the excuse for everything. Honestly, get a life and move on. They need to pull up their big boy pants and do their job.

Nailed it. It’s all excuses. Just own it. We played like shite, their coaches ran circles around us, and we got our asses whipped.

Exactly. Instead of making excuses watch film, live in playbook, and execute at practice. If you don’t want to win a championship don’t do those things.

I don't view this loss like ones in the past where our guys just looked lost out there and the blame was clearly on the coaches calling the plays. There have been games where the players played tight and failed to execute simple plays that cost us, but this was not one of those.

It really comes down to a handful of plays where the OL was just a swinging gate, and the QB missed the guys that were open.

Obviously, the defense needs to improve, but there was never a huge breakdown where guys are just totally lost, it was more of a death by a thousand cuts, and the offense repeatedly putting them in a bad spot.

Are they going to have to take a Xanax before every big game now?

That, or fill out a hurt feelings report before and after each game. It’s comical at this point. I’m over it.

I really hope they are just misusing "anxiety" in place of "nervousness" or something. Not that either are an excuse, but nervousness is at least understandable. It's also something pretty easily overcome. Teams frequently play tight for a quarter and then relax and settle in. Anxiety is not so easily overcome. It's an actual mental disorder. If they are truly anxious about playing in a game then to me that means they'd rather not even be there, so either the athletics department needs to hire a full time sports psychologist to work with the football team or a bunch of these dudes need to seriously consider just quitting football. If a fricking game gives you anxiety you probably need to stop playing it.

Bama went from inducing anxiety in teams to seeming to boast about their lack of mental toughness.

Anxiety again huh? In my opinion we should try to do something different so we DONT PLAY LIKE A BUNCH OF DAMN NERVOUS NANCIES FOR EVERY BIG GAME!

What the hell happened to our team full of dogs whose one goal was to make the guy oppposite them want to QUIT PLAYING THE GAME OF FOOTBALL BECAUSE YOU WHIPPED HIS arse FOR THREE STRAIGHT HOURS?

The other teams’s players used to be one’s anxious about games against Bama. What the hell happened?

Team needs to ban tbe use of the word “anxiety”before I lose my shite.

Okay I feel better now.

Defense was holding it on their own but on that last Texas TD drive, I think we started crumbling after that

Rewatching the game, you could tell the defense was getting gassed. Offense wasn't helping either.

Steele was doing a fine job and the defense was rocking the boat well but once the defense gets gassed, you can only hope that the offense steps up...which never happened
