Imo, defensive performance improvements are more crucial to Bama's chances for the Natty.

Bama can still win a Natty without Waddle

Not to sound like a broken record, but it's the defense. If we could get the defense to consistently stop teams, we could outscore almost anyone in the country with Devonta and Metchie.

Saban has won five national championships with one elite receiver. Ridley in 2017 and 2015, Cooper in 2012, Maze in 2011, Julio in 2009.

Losing Waddle is huge, but even if it results in one less average TD scored, scoring 41+ points per game should be enough to win if the defense can consistently do their job.

Nothing could be more true than this. We can put 40 on anyone. Getting stops is everything, even before the injury.

Our stunts literally take our players out of the way and make the pocket a free area for the qb. Our rush plays and the blitzes we run are still really poorly designed

They are improving each week. If they end up at the conclusion of the season as a good defense not great we can win it all.

Defense is definitely improving week by week. The true measuring stick will come November 14 in Baton Rouge. Regardless of who the QB is, their offense is rolling. Our tackling has significantly improved. The secondary is doing better lately. We still gotta get a couple of guys who can consistently get pressure on the Qb. It'll be difficult winning the National Championship if this doesn't improve. Fields/Sunshine will light the scoreboard up with ease.

Hey guys, the season is over. Lock up the stadium and send the boys home.

Imo, this guy includes his own takes too much, but his posts are the only eye-witness practice info I've seen lately.
quote:

The truth on Tuesday night… Tough week to focus coming off 5 straight SEC games and GA/Tenn. Team bunged up with many starters not in full contact including, Smitty, Najee, Brian R, DBrown,R Williams, Ray and a few more. Scout team offense has done well so we need to pick it up on defense. Offense killing defense scout team, Sanders, Jase, and Williams in order getting lots of reps at RB. Bryce and Tyson getting more work this week.

Still no COVID issues

I do not expect Ray to play this week. I think others will but not sure on Brown. Ask Saban Charlie.

Look for us to play 6 and 7 DBs. I expect Branch and Hellams to play with 2,28,9,3,13.

QB update… Mac for Heisman, no need to update… Bryce solid 2 at practice and doing very well. He is very accurate and coaches are pleased. Issue is height and size at this point. Sark wants pocket passer and Bryce better on the move… Tyson continues to impress at third string. You heard it here, this guy will contribute sooner than later. He knows the offense and huge arm with quick release. Players say he is like Mac but bigger. … if Mac goes pro, I expect Bryce to start but Tyson is much closer than people realize. Good things ahead for Both!!

We need to get Bryce some shoe lifts. His size is such a detriment

This part makes no sense. He's Sark's guy. Sark recruited him. He is at Alabama because of Sark.

I believe it is the 1st pass that he threw Saturday, but take a look at the OL protection and the lane that BY has to throw in. BY is a Sark get so I can't imagine there being any issues. A way that we may see that Sark tries to help BY is that he has him start a little deeper from shotgun/pistol and then take his regular steps. Just a thought.

This is great to hear.

Tyson's lackluster start in his early scrimmages was surprising, IMO. Saw him play a few times in high school (with Pierce Quick) and he always impressed me with his size and physical ability.

Hopefully he's continuing to adjust to the college game.

With Bryce, there is really nothing not to believe in at this point. He has a strong arm, quick release, plenty of pocket presence. I haven't seen him rattled with any pitch he's made. He just needs to play.

Is State going to have enough players to field a team?

quote:

SOURCE: Three more Mississippi State players are expected to transfer. Tyrell Shavers, Jamari Stewart and Tre Lawson.

LINK

quote:

Just a day after three players entered the transfer portal for Mississippi State, the Bulldogs have three more that are on their way out in the middle of the season.

A source told Genespage247 that junior wide receiver Tyrell Shavers, junior defensive end Tre Lawson and freshman defensive end Jamari Stewart are all leaving the program. That marks seven players that have left the program since last week joining sophomore quarterback Garrett Shrader from last week and sophomore QB Jalen Mayden, freshman offensive lineman Nick Pendley and senior running back Kareem Walker.

LINK

Wonder where Shavers is going

Does this mean the Pirate's sense of humor is failing to translate in the locker room?

They didn't appreciate being locked in what they were assured were sensory deprivation chambers but turned out to be moldy broom closets under the stadium.

Really though, Moorhead had clearly let the inmates take over the asylum and Leach is now tasked with cleaning up the mess. The only one of those guys who'd give me any cause for concern is Shavers, who wasn't there under Moorhead.
