Oats really emphasized how poorly we were on defense last year in this interview. Granted, a lot of it was due to lack of athleticism and length, but he really hammered on some effort. Hopefully with better players, we see the intensity go up.

Oats is def. changing the culture and hopefully it trickles down to high school. I want to see programs adopt this newfangled technology.

Last year we got an unedited 35min video of practice. I hope we get that again this year but I doubt it because of COVID

I just listened to the Blue Ribbon interview and you can tell Oats is confident in the team this year.

Also he brags on Ellis in almost every interview he does. Keon Ellis might start at the 2 IMO. I could see a starting 5 of : JQ, Ellis, Petty, Herb, and Bruner

You can tell Oats really likes Ellis, both offensively and defensively.

It’s going to be a fun year.

Looks like Stanford is no slouch. We’re going to have to bring it right out of the gates.

Yeah, they should be a really good squad.

They signed Ziaire Williams last year. He was the #6 overall player in the 2020 class. Should be a fun matchup with Herb on him.

Coach Oats hunt where the ducks are. Around the time he was hired, I posted on what an ideal recruiting strategy for Bama would be: Go hard after instate four-star and five-stars, go after four stars in souteast (and elsewhere realistically) but also recruit internationally. Look for under the radar players in Midwest and northeast where most of the coaching staff have extensive experience. Juco and transfers as fallback option.

• In the spring of 2016, in an incident widely discussed in the athletic department, Marshall was approaching his parking spot outside of his office at Koch Arena and a student-athlete from another sport was pulling out of Marshall’s spot. It was a regular occurrence for students to park in Marshall’s spot to run in quickly to the tutoring center. If Marshall discovered someone parked in his spot, he would typically double park behind the car. As Marshall approached his spot that day, he did not get there fast enough to block the student in. Instead, Marshall quickly turned his car around and followed the student’s car, eventually blocking his car at an intersection in the parking lot. According to an eyewitness, Marshall got out of his car and started yelling at the student, asking “Do you know who the f*** I am?”

The student had his window down and responded, “I don’t give a f*** who you are.” Marshall approached the car and, according to the eyewitness, attempted to punch the student through the driver’s window.
