2021 five-star Charles Bediako will announce his final five schools on Saturday, he tells me.

Current Top 10: Duke, Alabama, Memphis, Tennessee, Michigan, Texas, Baylor, Maryland, Ohio State, USC.

When the guy tending bar in the background of an SNES beat-em-up jumps over the counter and rips his shirt off and pulls out a tractor-chain.

Skip to like 15:30, unless you want to here those blowhards talk about UNC or Indiana.

They barely brush over Bama-Stanford. Of course no mention of any notable players at Alabama, outside of Quinerly. No mention of Nate Oats' offense, Petty coming back, the addition of Bruner, etc.. And they mention Alabama in contention for Bediako and insinuate that maybe there's shady shite going on.

Neither picked Alabama to win.

Those guys do not think very highly of Alabama it seems. Basically implying that we are doing too well in basketball recruiting for a "football school", so we are probably cheating.

Oats just hasn't quite caught everyone's attention yet. I thought getting Bruner was a pretty big deal, but no mention. Seems like any talk about Alabama is about Quinerly, and that's because they followed him as a recruit.

The thing is: people respect Oats, but not Alabama. He'll have to start winning for people to take notice. I do like it that people don't respect the roster he has assembled this year.

I agree with that 100%. Alabama has wallowed in mediocrity for so long that I don't blame people for not believing in us.

Oats is changing the culture though, so hopefully we can garner some more prestige over the coming years.

Poor Stanford. We ruined their GOAT team dream season back in 04 and now we are gonna ruin this teams Maui tournament.

Right, because basketball schools like Arizona, Louisville, Duke, and Kansas would never pay recruits. Oh wait...

Really though, we signed 3 international players (2 of whom reclassified), a 3*, a JuCo transfer, and a grad transfer last year. We currently have commitments from an in state 5* and a 4* from a couple of hours away in Atlanta. I'm not going to say that we are definitely not paying kids, because we probably are playing the game, but nothing about our staff's recruiting efforts thus far has raised any big time red flags. We are likely traveling at 80 in a 70 like most college basketball programs.
