I guess this is correct thread to talk about the 2020 class considering they are all signed now.

Bossi's breakdown: Primo was on the verge of breaking through in the class of 2021 before going to Basketball Without Borders in February. There he shot well from deep, showed more aggression off the dribble and quickly saw his stock heat up. He also decided to move to 2020 and Alabama was there to pick him up. You always wonder about a player as young as Primo - who won't turn 18 until late December - adjusting to the type of physicality he will see in a conference like the SEC, but he's got game as a shooter and off of the bounce to help compensate for his relative youth.

Which ever big man we have that is guarding Galin during that winning baby hook shot should immediately be cut from the team. It’s the ONLY move he has, how can you possibly give that move to him lol
Oh, he missed the shot, but in perfect ‘Bamaness, he got a touch foul that we never get in the SEC, and hit one free throw out of three after a lane violation negated the second miss.

Petty gets more time to decide.

Well, he really wants to play at the next level.

I just have a feeling that if Petty leaves now, he better brush up on his Spanish or Italian to make sure he has solid income for him and his family.

I feel the same way about Andrew Nembhard -- sure, returning and balling out on a better team may get more eyes on you, but those weaknesses that are currently limiting your stock will still limit your stock next season. Unless Petty shows unlikely dramatic improvement in his ball skills, he's a borderline guy.
No shame in playing in Europe, anyway. There's more money to be made as a star in Europe than there is to be made in the two-way contract market. I do wonder if Petty would prefer making less on a two-way contract since he does have the daughter, though.

Here's the counterpoint: Petty was very highly regarded coming out of high school Then he gets shite for coaching his first couple of years in Tuscaloosa. Not surprisingly, he doesn't really turn any heads. Enter Nate Oats, who in one injury shortened season, helps JP blossom into a borderline NBA draft guy. JP does still have some flaws but how much better does he look with another year of solid development on a team where he won't be expected to shoulder as much of the load as last year? There's some potential upside there and not a ton of downside. Maybe that's just the Crimson koolaid talking, but I won't be shocked if he returns. The risk reward equation doesn't look too different IMO.
OT: WTF is it with Maryland all of a sudden? First Galin, now Lia. Any other sloppy seconds the Terps wanna snatch?

Not really unpopular tbh - it's been said a couple times already.
I think most of us just want him back selfishly, because he would just us make us that make stronger next season. Without him we have a chance to be pretty good, but confidence from there grows if he returns.
I would be happy for him if he were a top 36ish pick and got guaranteed money, but i'm not sure that is in the cards at this point. So instead of him possibly ending up overseas somewhere, i'd much rather hive him back next season.
If he feels like he needs money right now though and he needs to go to Italy or wherever to do that to better support his daughter, then I would 100% understand that and support him in that decision as well.
Best case scenario is that he's doing ok enough for now with his daughter/family situation and is able to come back to school and continue to grow some of his secondary basketball abilities. The team would really benefit from his added shooting, defense, rebounding, and hopefully leadership.
Seems like a great kid who has matured a ton since his freshman season and i'm really rooting for him.

I get what you’re saying and don’t disagree. However, I would say if you’re a fringe level guy, why not stay to get your degree? Then again, money is money and with a daughter, he may not be able to pass up more money than probably what our boosters are currently giving.
I do think he could improve his stock though with another season of shooting 40+% from 3 and being an All SEC kinda guy regardless if he shows significant improvement driving to the basket. Might be the Bama fan in me talking.

Yeah, I won't downplay the value of a degree, but I think a lot of people also undervalue international basketball and overestimate how much player development in college affects draft status, regardless of coach.
Petty is good enough that he could make six figures immediately, somewhere, but he also has limitations that are likely preventing him from ever being a guaranteed-contract guy. His is the kind of situation where I think both choices are equally justifiable (like with Nembhard at UF).
I also want Nembhard back at UF so I get it.

I think he can make good money overeas if that is what he wants. Just don't think he is an NBA talent now and not sure he will ever be.
I wish him well whatever choice he makes.

From what I read, Bball overseas isnt doing so well. US players are expecting fewer jobs and less money.

Dunno if anyone saw it, but the NBA did a 90s Throwback Zoom Call to line up with the end of Last Dance. Robert Horry was wearing an "Always Reppin" Alabama Nike shirt during the whole call.
Pretty bad arse

It is my understanding that Horry has done a lot of good things for Alabama basketball over the years. I really liked watching that dude play ball and I think he's a class act if the stuff I've heard is true.
