100% agree on Green. Can't believe he pitched Ruth.

Alabama loses 13-5

Probably need to win 2/3 next weekend against State to feel decent about the NCAAT heading to Hoover

One step forward, three steps back....

Pitching Woes Continue as Alabama Baseball Falls at LSU, 13-5

Between six pitchers utilized by the Crimson Tide on Sunday, the Tigers managed to get 21 batters on base with 16 hits and five walks

Baseball Suffers 13-5 Loss at LSU on Sunday

The Crimson Tide fell behind early and battled all day but could not complete the comeback

Didn't we just want to get to Hoover this year and maybe a regional?

My goal was Hoover and a regional. With the SP injuries it's reasonable to barley miss, but knowing how many games we had in our grasp and knowing winning just 1 of them gets us in.....that'd be tough.

Really hope State is still reeling this weekend. We badly need 2.

Well said. Would have taken this season considering the circumstances. But seems like so much was left on the table.

Yep, if you told me in February we play all of SEC play without Prielipp and Jean I'd probably guess that we go 12-18 or 11-19, even with a "lighter" East draw (which ended up not so light with Tennessee and even Kentucky).

But man, we could easily be 14-12 right now and clinched a tourney birth. That's ball though I guess.

If Prielipp can be who he was and who everyone thinks he is and Jean can build on his last few starts last year and be a solid weekend starter then we will be in pretty damn good shape.

Well damn. Baseball is one of the few sports we haven’t excelled at this year. Time for Bohannon to get it done. I want to believe but it comes down to Ws and Ls.

not looking good for the NCAA at this point. LSU has a lot higher SOS and beat us twice. Both Bama and LSU would have to sweet their next series and probably do damage in Hoover. LSU could do it but Bama does not have enough pitching unless Prelipp is 100% and it does not appear he is. He has pitched under 50 pitches in the last 2 games And you also dont have Jean.

If we win 2/3 from State and finish 14-15 I think we're in.

However, that's a tall task.

we can only hope to do that but we got to win the firs two as our coaches have no clue who to start game 3 with and we saw how that worked out yesterday

I might add our top 2 batters have seen a dramatic dip in their BA. I think our leadoff batter was 1 for about 14 vs LSU. We got to get more production from the top of the order. The bottom of the order is doing good. And Eblin is providing some spark off the bench.

He gets next year to show he can get it done. I doubt the AD will stick with him if we're still at this same point in 2022.

Struck out the side in the first

Also gave up a 2B and a HR

So, about what you would expect in a rehab start in AA or AAA for a good MLB pitcher who is trying to get his feel back. Except, you know, we had him doing it in one of the biggest games of the season against a super talented roster.

So nex year you return

POSITION PLAYERS

Freshmen/Sophomores
- Wilson (2B)
- Jarvis (SS)
- Hamiter (OF/1B/3B)
- Diodati (OF/DH)
- Denton (3B)
- Rose (OF)
- Pinckney (OF)
- Eblin (INF)

Juniors/R-Sophs with options
- Williamson (1B)
- Reeves (OF)

R-Juniors/Seniors
- Praytor (C)
- Tate (OF)
- Hawk (C)

I'd imagine Williamson comes back, but who knows. Praytor will probably leave (he's a R-JR too). No clue with Reeves. So, you are basically returning like 90% of your at bats if Williamson comes back, including a few freshmen who could take big steps and some sophomores who are close to being All-SEC level (Denton, Wilson).

PITCHERS

Freshmen/Sophomores
- Connor Preilipp
- Antoine Jean
- Jake Eddington
- Eli Giles
- Grayson Hitt

Juniors/R-Sophs with options
- Landon Green
- Tyler Ras
- Dylan Smith
- Connor Shamblin
- Jacob McNairy
- Chase Lee

R-Juniors/Seniors
- Hunter Ruth
- Brock Guffey
- William Freeman

Pitching will come down to (a) can the freshmen get better and are they SEC quality arms and (b) what do all the 3rd year guys decide to do (Lee, Smith, Shamblin, Green, Ras). If you somehow get all or most of those guys back PLUS add Prielipp and Jean back......all of a sudden you have a pretty deep and experienced staff of arms.

If everything falls into place the 2022 team could be very, very good. It could basically be 95% this team + Prielipp/Jean and a year older. But, hard to know until roster stuff shakes out.
