AJ on Highly Questionable

The personality difference between AJ and Grant is just astronomical. This guy is going to be a hell of a recruiter.

I am just watching a bunch of videos about him right now and couldn't be more excited about this.

Watching his jersey retirement video right now: LINK

No clue who the better coach is, but I'm thrilled about Grant. Particularly when they started throwing names around like Baby Dick Pitino and Prohm. He may not have college experience, but the guy knows basketball. He isn't some physically gifted superstar. He was a scrappy little Nola kid who busted his arse to a 16 year nba career.

Throw in the fact that he was Greg Pop's point guard for years, and you know he had an extremely high basketball iq. He's demanding as hell, and will expect them to hustle. And he's got the street cred to get the players' respect.

He seems like a grand slam. I was thinking it would've been a great move for Texas to get him. I never expected him to even be an option when this search started.

Me too!! I know he has never done it but I think he will be a hell of a recruiter and show lots of enthusiasm on the bench.

If he pans out, I hope he has a Saban realization moment and accepts that his personality may fit better in college than the pros.

Excited to see how his tenure here plays out.

I'm just glad we have a 'decent' hire so to speak and this coaching search is over.

I won't lie, I wasn't pumped about our aspects after Marshall turned us down.

But with this coming out of left field I'm elated.

Any updates on our 'cruits?

I know Dazon said he was wait and see until we picked a coach, which isn't surprising.

And Brandon Austin said he was coming to Alabama regardless and wouldnt seek out a release

Most news has been pretty quiet since the announcement it seems like.

Agreed. Battle quickly released a statement about getting shot down by Marshall, but there's nothing about this big hire?

Could have something to do with the fact that it's Easter Sunday? Outside of that, I have no idea.

If they stick, and the current players stay around then Avery will definitely have something to work with right off the bat. May not be the most talented but the group of guys are definitely athletic and skillful.
