I’m worried our defense won’t be dominant until we replace the DC.

With all of the turnover we're going to be going through on staff, as well as likely having yet another one-and-done OC, we need Tosh on staff for recruiting purposes.

Wow. Tosh will be fine.... he needed experience. Lot of stuff isnt on him.. some of blame should go to players... its 50/50

I don’t know about confident, but I’d also argue that we still probably haven’t seen him with anything approaching an ideal personnel situation either.

But actually, the fact that the LB’s looked that lost all year doesn’t exactly bode well for him either

Other board saying that Golding was actually calling the plays since early in the season

Just FYI

I'm very confident. If he didn't do a good job Saban would've fired him. People seem to be forgetting that we had major issues in the secondary all year. This was amplified when Diggs got hurt. Tosh did a good job hiding those shortcomings in all but one game.

I’m not confident but that is a result of watching our defense still confused after game 15. Three was no growth but Bama needs continuity.

...because the philosophy is still the same under Saban regardless of the DC.

Tosh is a 1st yr DC who lost basically the entire defense to the draft and NFL FA signings

Minkah
Payne
Evans
Harrison
Hand
Everette
SDH
Brown
Wallace

Inexperienced defense for the most part still finished top 20 in the country. While I'll agree, its not the dominant defense of old, but this is a different era in college football too.

That's a ton of talent to lose in 1 yr off 1 defense for a 1st yr guy. Im not gonna panic. Tosh has a year under his belt to learn from mistakes and make improvements.

Yes, I trust Saban to be able to mentor him in a sense and hopefully Tosh will develop and remain at DC giving some stability.

More like the last 3 games he did poorly at this.

He has to get more aggressive and get to the point he calls his own defense similar to Smart or Pruitt, but I think he can get there. I prefer the continuity of Tosh (assuming the rumors about him being heavily disliked in the building are false) over dumping him for a marginal upgrade in someone like Steele.

I wouldn't mind moving Golding to DC though and bring in a dedicated Linebackers coach.

Edit: And Boz said Tosh is gone after NSD... so maybe Golding because he does have the X's and O's?

Yep, Boz post lines up with some of the stuff this board has passed around.

I agree partly but my biggest concern is the actual players on that side of the ball! There's only so much a coach can do to improve the play of an individual.

Pardon my lack of knowledge here but what exactly is his experience? Memphis DC or something, right?
