Tough move to promote him then can him. I wonder if Tosh would have stayed at LB.

Pardon my lack of knowledge here but what exactly is his experience? Memphis DC or something, right

He had been the DC and DB coach at UTSA for two years when Saban hired him. In his first year, he took UTSA from #100 in total defense to #55...in the next year, he took them to #5. He was also DC and/or DB coach at smaller schools before then with the exception of Southern Miss...everywhere he had coached, that team's defensive numbers improved, most times drastically. His defenses were known to play fast and aggressive...

Did we ever hear anything more with the Aranda talk? Maybe both waiting for after NSD.

Hope we keep Tosh. If we don't someone will hire him in the SEC and we won't like going against him on the recruiting trail. Never thought he was ready to be a DC but Saban probably gave the job to him conditionally just to retain him. It's obvious now he needs a couple of years seasoning to take over as DC here.
Should talk him into stepping down and still staying.
Won't happen if Smart wants him.

Seems if it is known on this board he won’t be back, he has to have an idea as well. If that’s the case , I can’t see Saban letting him out to recruit much and expecting his best “effort”

His continued recruiting schedule is what's giving me hope that he isn't going anywhere. Could be a smoke screen till NSD. Who knows?

Not really. He's learning on the job, which is ok when we are playing teams that have no chance of beating us, but our ability to make in-game adjustments was non-existent this year.

Granted his job hasn't been made easier by the incredible amount of underclassmen that have left over the past couple of seasons. Lots of talent having to be replaced.

And Lupoi has no clue? If this is true, why hasn't he taken a job elsewhere?

If he plans on going to the NFL, which is my understanding of this, than he may just be trying to not burn bridges with Saban in case he wants to come back CFB?

I think it's possible he realizes that he wasn't ready to be a DC and doesn't want a demotion in college, but would take a position coach or assistant position coach role in the NFL.
