Just wondering if he was as effective in his HS career as we was on his couple kicks last night. Dude looks like he could be a weapon for us if that’s what he can consistently bring.

I watched just little bit. I don't think he was as consistent as we would like, but I knew him more through soccer.

I can live with an occasional shank if there's an equal chance he could uncork a 65 yarder on any kick and he's going to average 40+. Not to mention, he can knock the hell out of the return guy. What I can't live with is the consistent 35 yards or less DeShank gives you.

I thought the highlights of the game was his punting & hammering tackle along with Digg's 100 yard return.
Perine was a sweet surprise on special teams last night.

I'm from the Prattville area. He was very good in HS. Not sure why he hasn't gotten a shot before now.

He should be the starter moving forward and if he stays consistent he should be getting DeLong’s scholly heading into 2020.

Maybe he’s the answer at ILB we’ve been looking for haha
He couldn’t do any worse given his 4.5 speed

OK so you guys that are going to the Hog game this Saturday have an assignment.

You WILL chart where Ty stands (receives the ball) and then where the receiver catches the ball. Looking at those two points it appears he is a 50-55 yard toe to receiver guy with normal to less height. Regardless he light years ahead of #12.

Report back your results 1st thing on Sunday.

There will be a quiz so make notes.

If he’s that good of an athlete, I can see all kinds of juicy little fake punt plays we could use on L8U.

Hell, let him try FGs too. Couldn’t be any worse than Bulovas and since we stupidly ruined Reichart Saturday night, we need somebody we can try out. Someone should be fired for that moronic move.

I had a friend point out Perine a couple weeks ago in warm ups. Saturday night I specifically looked for him in pregame. Also looked when the band was getting of the field at halftime when all the kickers come back out to warm up.

I know I was looking at a small window of 15-20 kicks, but Perine was consistently better than the other the guys punting-- Reichard/Delong. Perine, was about the 40 and was kicking it over the net into the student section.

As consistently inconsistent as DeLong has been.......I'm ok with Perine screwing the pooch 1 out of every 6-7 kicks. He is light years ahead of what he have suffered through the last 1.5 years since Scott graduated.

so your story Ty was on the 40 ...which 40? The 40 that would get you a 60 yard punt from toe to the goal line? or the 40 that would get you a 40 yard punt to the goal line?

According to the story I read this morning, he was 8/13 on FGs. Not exactly what we're looking for in that area but punting is now his job to lose.

You mean by using a guy who by his on words said punting wasn't bothering him and had punted fine in warmups?

Yeah, sure, we all KNEW that despite past evidence he was going to tweak something.

Yet another example of Bama fans knowing more than the staff. Why the hell do we even pay those idiots?

my buddy and I were sitting in our seats Sat night during halftime...and he says to me...are we really watching punting tryouts at the UofA right now at halftime...I was like Yep. I told him I just read a thread on the Rant about this walk-on from Prattville, Perine.

With that said...Perine and Delong both DID NOT LOOK GOOD in "tryouts" at halftime...Perine was just better, Delong was horrible. Perines's 2 punts in the game were his 2 best punts of the night, warmup or game time.

Perine turned down a scholly to West Point to walk on at Bama.

I've watched many players that seem to pick up their play when it's game time. Hopefully Perines is that type of player.
