That's why it's worth spending $20-45 and buying an Onn box, then installing the rbtv app. The app is free, and has every broadcasted sporting event in the world. And when I say everything, I've literally watched a minor league Kazakhstani basketball game on it. Which was hilarious, because they were so bad, it was like watching kids playing YMCA league. But it was there. So you'll never worry about missing anything from the US.

Anything that actually tries to promote a balanced, freer market where the little guys can compete and long term benefits/costs are weighed is met with a heavily financed campaign to label it "anti-capitalism".
This country went to shite in general when we quit enforcing monopoly regulations. The government protects big business from the people, when it should be protecting the people from big business. Kinda like how the EU told Apple to quit their bullshite and start using USB-C cables. Consumer protection has gone to shite, and criticism gets labeled as socialism.

On my Laptop or phone I use TheTVApp.to
Type that in and it will take you straight there. You can watch all sports and regular channels for free.

My only issue with using YouTube is ads in the middle of plays, and the feeds can disappear at anytime. Quality also varies tremendously. It does usually work, but I've also had my feed disappear 2 minutes before the Bama Purdue basketball game ended (though it was pretty much decided and I think the streamer rage quit once Purdue put the nail in the coffin).
These things happen to me occasionally, but it's rarely a problem. Sometimes I even get streams where the youtube ads pop on beside the video instead of on top of it.

quote:Yeah, everything's been moving to an a la carte model anyway, which is what people wanted all along. YouTube TV was a great alternative for traditional cable and satellite because it required no hardware and could therefore be rolled out at a lower cost to the user (and also had a much better user interface), but it may have run its course.
I imagine they're hemorrhaging subscribers right now.

And when Citizens United made it legal for corporations to buy politicians. Give something a freedom-sounding name and Americans will lap it up and never read what it actually is. But, then, nobody under the age of 30 CAN read and half the people older than that think literacy is part of the "woke" agenda.
Anyway, sports. I'll be signing up for something, probably Hulu, before the basketball game tips off. I've been watching football via regular YouTube. It's been good enough for my interest level.

Can you link a few solid sites and products? Been thinking about this for awhile, I’ve got better than average tech skills and already use a VPN, etc. and been thinking of gaming with a Shield.
Anyway thanks for anything route you’d suggest. Roll Tide!

What's the genesis of this conversation. Has YoutubeTv done something?
Posted on 10/31/25 at 8:43 pm to LovetheLord
Ja, they're in a contract dispute with YTTV.
I'm going to try a free trial of Hulu + Live TV this weekend because I just need a stopgap to keep my parents and wife happy. Unfortunately, all the weird shite to get IPTV working in a digestible way for my family is a bridge I don't want to cross unless Google makes me.
I'm assuming one CFB Saturday + MNF will be enough for both parties to come to the table and get something done before Alabama plays again.
Hulu's live TV interface is dramatically inferior to YouTube TV. Not to mention no quad-box option.

i would say more like over a hundred years ago when in the dead of night wilson signed the federal reserve act of 1913. by the 1930s with its cause of the great depression and cost of living being doubled, americans finally retaliated by withdrawing their gold in mass. in order to stop this fdr, the original progressive decided by executive order to confiscate the gold in response. then by 1934 with the passing of the gold reserve act any real notion of actual economic freedom people had in america had pretty much become an illusion with the nail in the coffin being taken off the gold standard officially in the 70s by nixon. so yes, the illusion of capitalism we have today is every bit as fake as our currency and the fact people are still dumb enough to fall for it in todays america is a testament to just how effective theyve been at controlling the market over the decades. that said, by the early 2000s we did atleast still have honey buns for a quarter so theres that.

We paid once for the initial veesee box and have never paid another dime. No credit cards or bank accounts linked to it. The newest movies can be crappy resolution but give it a week and a HD version will be up.

First thing you want is to install an app called downloader. That lets you install stuff from outside of the app store. Make sure you set your device to allow installation from unknown sources.
For free sports, the best app is now called fctv33. The website is fctv33.lat (I'm guessing it's hosted in Latvia). The website works fine but use an ad block. But they have their own apps. This is the site
If you click where I put the arrow, you can install the version meant for Android/google Smart TVs/streaming devices. The one to the left is for Android phones and tablets.
I've found other sports apps. But they're more focused on soccer and cricket. This is the only one you really need, because it has literally everything and a lot of it is in HD.
For free TV channels, Streamfire seems pretty solid. There's also Rapid Streamz that I just downloaded today to test out. I'll be honest, I get them from site called Mobilism that has modified apps, usually to reduce ads and other bullshite they'll put on an app. You can probably find the regular sources on Reddit. Be careful if just googling an app name. There's plenty of scams and mirror sites out there.
Those are the best of the free stuff. If you want only hd channels, you'll need an IPTV. That's $4-15/month. And a lot of IPTVs let you stream movies and TV shows. But the best way to stream 4k/1080p movies and TV shows, you'll need real debrid or a similar debrid service subscription, which is about $4-10/month. I use Stremio (which is free and on almost every type of streaming device) with real debrid. You can find add ons at LINK Torrentio is good. Aiostreams installs a bunch of add-ons for you.

I looked into it more, and I guess they created their own streaming app for the device. I'm impressed how they've kept people from cloning it. But most people seem to be happy with it, and not just from here.
If the streams last for awhile, it may be worth it to some. It's a smart idea. Get $50 -$75 worth of hardware and set it up so a novice can run it, and sell it for $350+. With YouTube TV costing almost $1000/year, several months of it working and most people will be happy.
But you're definitely paying hundreds extra for something that can be done in 20-30 minutes.

I talked to a few buddies around me and they all use Fubo. There is a free trial, and it’s slightly cheaper than YTTV. I’m going to use that, if this clears up I’ll go back to them but I paused the subscription for now.

If you want ESPN ditch everything and get the Disney bundle with Hulu and espn. You get everything that all three channels offer including abc for 30.00

I just bit the bullet and upgraded my Disney Bundle to Include ESPN unlimited

I just remembered I had an antennae wired up in the attic…
no ESPN local in HD.

Sling has a day pass for 4.99 worth it.

If you cave and get the espn stuff won’t you lose FOX though? Good games on that too.
