I don't think she was worried about competing at all. She would have been better at either of the girls on the right side of the infield. But something was not right and like I said we do not know the real story.

1-0 Bama after four innings. Reminiscent of baseball with two runners on base, no outs. Clark (running for Morgan) gets tagged out at home on a bunt, followed by a quick double play (Doerr with a line drive fly out with a quick throw to first to get Woodard out trying to get back to first).

Alabama Softball Shuts Out North Alabama, 5-0, Wednesday Night

Third-ranked Alabama softball shut out North Alabama, 5-0, Wednesday night at Rhoads Stadium.

Six different Alabama (25-2) players got a hit against North Alabama (16-6), including multi-hit games from KB Sides, Alexis Mack and Kaylee Tow. Abby Doerr made the most of her first hit of the season, a two-run home run to straightaway center that brought the score to its final mark at 5-0 in the sixth inning.

The offense was aided by a strong start in the circle from Jaala Torrence (2-0), who threw 6.0 shutout innings with nine strikeouts and just two walks and two hits, both singles. Krystal Goodman pitched a shutout seventh inning behind her to shut the door. UNA's Megan Garst (7-4) took the loss for the Lions.

My two cents FWIW: So far I'm pleased with Torrence. If she continues learning how to pitch, not just throw, she could develop into our third starter. Goodman and Cornell should just resign themselves to reliever roles because they just aren't starter quality. Don't know anything about Fr. Salter.
