I don't know anything about Liberty nor their AD but first football and now they have a top 20 softball team - give that AD a raise

Nope. We don’t have the pitching to hold up I am afraid, not to mention how the offense will perform against SEC aces

He's like the Les Miles or Mark Richt of softball. A once good coach who has been left behind by the game and surpassed by many of his peers, but still isn't truly bad.

Sure, if you're comfortable hanging around the top 25 every year with no real chance to compete for an NC, he's not truly bad. But unless he changes his philosophy (i.e., slap bunt and steal, eke out a few runs, and try to beat opponents with pitching and defense), we'll never win another NC in this era of college softball.

Looks like it's going to be a long season! Why oh why doesn't Murphy get any elite pitchers? We usually only have one good pitcher, and the rest is mediocre at best. Both losses today were the result of allowing opposing teams to score late in the game (6th inning), leaving only one inning left to catch up. Why all the wild throwing errors? We have to hope they get better and quickly. Roll Tide!

Maybe by resume. But right now, in the year 2025, he is not. Hitters get actively worse under his coaching. He hasn't recruited a stud pitcher since Kilfoyl and he couldn't convince her to stick around. Our best hitters routinely hit the portal to get away from him. Sides, Wallace, Cahalan all transfered to other SEC teams. He led us to our first losing conference record ever last season and it's gonna be even worse this year.

half of our starters or main players from last year are batting under 300 and we have not seen SEC pitching yet.

Well, yeah. It's a non-revenue sport though. My point is that from a practical standpoint it's a tough call for an AD to fire the coach of a non-revenue sport who fields a competitive team even if it's not very good. I mean it was hard enough for UGA and LSU to fire Richt and Miles and they were in charge of football.

Aside from the FOGiest of FOGs, fans are going to want to compete for championships in everything, so I would certainly like to see a change made sooner than later. ADs just need their non-revenue sports to be better than a source of embarrassment though. I don't think Murphy is safe forever, but he has at least this year and next even if the bottom falls out, which really feels like an inevitability at this point. If you can't hit, you can't win unless you have an All-American ace and very reliable #2 starter to carry you to a bunch of 3-2 and 2-0 wins.

Stop making shite up. Bama does not slap anymore. We are batting over .320 as a team this year. Already 6 HRs as a team.

Respectfully. This is not a Championship team. If I’m wrong in a couple of months I will eat crow. They will get killed in SEC play.

I agree with you. I just don’t like people making up blatant lies about Murphy not adapting or whatever. It’s like they missed the entire offseason.

Please enlighten me. What has he done to adapt to this new era of softball?

Whatever he did in “the entire offseason” (e.g., making Arbour the hitting coach) doesn’t seem to be making a lick of difference and this program continues to decline.

Our best offensive players transfer, we don’t have elite pitching, etc.

We’re at .323, which puts us at 64th in the country.

That’s tied for 34th in the country, behind softball powerhouses like North Alabama, South Alabama, and SIUE. Hell, even fAU, which was picked to finish 13th in the SEC, is undefeated with twice as many HRs.

And as for pitching? 129th in team ERA.

We got a few hitters but all of them are newcomers.

Pupillo - she can flat out crush the ball.
Vandagriff - she's the real deal.
Marceaux - her batting technique will allow her to be a powerful hitter. (A lot of Oklahoma players have this technique)
Hubbard - she struggled yesterday a little but she will be a good one.
Riley - she has a great swing as well.

The biggest problem is...PATRICK MURPHY!

Give Chris Robinson or Tori Dew a call please!

We'd go undefeated if we only played Big 10 teams.

Completely get rid of slapping.

Except for batting average (.270 to .330) being significantly up from last year, but who’s counting?

lol are people seriously this dumb? SOS matters…Bama’s batting average is way up from last year. Offense has been great so far.

You dumbasses can keep downvoting me but you know I’m right. Parroting the same old narratives doesn’t make you sound smart, it just makes it look stupid to anyone who has watched our games this year.
