Yay. We made a super regional. Murphy is safe. Yippee.

Lotta SEC on SEC crime in that poster.

I wonder what effect TAMU losing had on the matchups overall. Oregon hosting instead of going on the road surely caused a shakeup.

Alabama has made 18 of the last 20 Super Regionals. Incredible consistency.
Hosted nine Supers between 2005 and 2016. Have hosted three Supers since 2017.

If we are able to knock out OU (which would be poetic), that would be 3 straight WCWS appearances and 5 out of the last 6.
I don’t know how Murph continues to do it.
It can be frustrating as hell to watch during the season but frick if he doesn’t make a damn run every year.

There were marked changes/improvements this year with the program, specifically the offense. But of course the year we finally take a step forward offensively we don't have a shutdown ace for the first time in a decade. Honestly, while I think we have taken a step back, I think the biggest part of things is everyone else has taken massive steps forward. And while Murph is frustrating these days, there is no doubting that he's as good at getting a team ready to play in the postseason as anyone in the sport.
I'm guessing they'll to to Norman and fight like hell.

That's a bold thing to say when we're traveling to the four time defending national champion this weekend. Hard to believe that after 2012 UA and OU each had one title and OU now has 8 titles. We're .500 in the SEC the last three years. Since we were the runner up in 2014 Florida has been to the championship series twice, FSU three times, and even Auburn was runner up once. Hell if Corey Meyers had kept it in his pants we'd probably be the second best program in the state right now considering AU was the better program from 2015-2017 when Clint "retired."

Oklahoma is really good but they went 9-6 in SEC play the 2nd half of the season (including losing 2 of 3 to Alabama). Winning 2/3 there will be extremely difficult.
But my point was clear - for the issues in the regular season, they've matched or exceeded postseason expectations per their regular season results almost every single season. That isn't normal - look around the sport.
Since 2005 they've advanced out of the regionals 18 out of 19 seasons. That doesn't just happen by accident. Murph has plenty of issues at this point, but his approach to preparing and getting girls ready for postseason play is extremely difficult to argue against. Have they had a shot at 1-2 more titles in OKC and not gotten it done? Sure.
But they've been to 4 WCWS in the last 5 seasons. Over a period where most of us would agree they are not nearly the program they were in the early/mid 2010s. There are only 4 schools who have done that. So, clearly when the lights come on in the tournament they have another gear that other programs do not. A whole bunch of "Top 10 every year" SEC programs who have barely sniffed OKC over this period (Tennessee, LSU, Texas A&M, Arkansas).

Murphy said that he was helping get a tree off his neighbors house yesterday before the game. He also had to walk out of his neighborhood and meet someone to give him a ride to the stadium.

He's Bobby Cox or Mark Richt. He can get us there, but that's all he can do.
Hopefully we soon decide that isn't enough.

He's Richt if Richt had beaten us in the SEC Championship and gone on to beat Notre Dame, which they absolutely would have.

I mean...maybe? It's been a really long time since Murphy won anything.

Who should we hire to replace him?

Truly doesn't matter. At this point we could have hired a coach, given that coach ten years to develop a program, and still have just as many titles.

Have any of you worked around someone who did just enough to keep his job but not enough to advance himself professionally? This appears to be Murph and Greg seems to be ok with this since it is a non-revenue sport. At this point it is what it is. It wont change even though we fans scream yell and bitch and same the same things. But I do like the SE Louisiana coach with what he has done and beat whoville twice.
If he beats OK at OK he will have earned a lifetime contract and advance to the SB world series two years in a row without hosting the second round. From memory didnt Bama beat Tenn at Tenn last year
Year two has seen great strides in our hitters now we just need the same results from having a Fouts like pitcher next year. Tenn has one of those type pitchers
