Skol Vikings! Class of '86.

Skol! Class of 79. Been a minute since Vikings were ranked that high preseason.

Saraland just beat the 2022 Tennessee state champ, Lipscomb Academy, 31-30 in OT. Alabama commit, Ryan Williams, was the game MVP.

They play in week one @ Hoover. This will be flipped after that.

I was wrong. Auburn whooped Hoover pretty good. 39-14 or something like that.

The Oxford Yellow Jackets, my alma mater, beat McAdory last night 33-23. #GoBigO

We play Huntsville next Friday.

It was a good game. Saraland's defense completely shite the bed in the last 3 minutes of the game and gave up 10 points.

Williams is going to be special. Gives Smitty vibes once he gets the ball in his hands.

Is Ramsey treated like a private school and forced to play up a division. If not, they should be.

Amazing how all of those elite athletes happen to live within the small community of Alabaster, Alabama.

Not saying it’s huge, but it is WAY bigger than when I grew up there.

I've been away from North Alabama for the last 23+ years, but it looks weird not seeing a Deshler (likely the most dominant team in their class for the 90s. I don't think they lost an area game for 10+ years one stretch), Hazelwood or Courtland in the rankings.

I had no idea that the latter two had closed down. That used to be a pipeline for Bama talent.

Baker should be in the top 10 ín 7A this week after soundly beating Theodore.

Clay-Chalkville undoubtedly belongs in 7A.

Clay is the second biggest 6A school. Decent chance they get bumped up to 7A next time they classify everyone. Hewitt should be 7A for sure.

@Che Boludo
The Deshler assistant (Darrell Higgins), who was apparently the best coach they had left for Mars Hill seven or eight years ago. MHBS went on to win several state championships upon his arrival. Former MLB baseball player Josh Willingham’s son plays at MHBS. He is bigger than his dad. He has potential to be a star. Coach Higgins also took the Deshler weight program to MHBS.
I remember back when Ray Perkins was at Alabama, his helicopter landed across the street from the Hazlewood playoff game to see one of the Goode’s play. Someone drove Perkins to Leighton five miles to the west to see someone for Colbert County in a playoff game followed by driving him back through Town Creek to Cortland to see someone in their playoff game. It’s a shame what happened to those communities.

Hoover just lost in OT to a Mississippi team. Hoover is definitely not a powerhouse this season.
