If I’m Schumann, I look at it this way. We know Saban can’t coach forever. Maybe I get a look if I’m already at Bama with, hopefully x years of top a flight D, in position to make a run at HC of my Alma Mater.

The reason being that Pruitt can then be eased into the DC role in the future once our next DC (whether this is Schumann or Leonhard) moves to a HC job in the future. Having Pruitt on staff to step into the DC role in the future creates a fantastic safety net (much like having Muschamp on staff did for UGA when Lanning left). Moreover, it will stabilize the DC position for years to come, as it seems unlikely that Pruitt will be able to land a head coaching job in the future.

Scorched earth is Leonhard at safeties and DC, Pruitt at ILB, Roach moved to OLB, and Bo Davis brought back for the defensive line.

I will forever vote scorched earth.

Yet.

It’s a really big roll of the dice.

Schumann is co-dc for a reason. LEONHARD is 100% defense at Wisky, multiple top five defenses withh small white dudes. Is this serious?

I’m not familiar with Leonhard. Does he run a 3-4? How much of his success was the conference he was in? Primarily how’d he do against OSU, Michigan, etc? Golding was top 2 in SEC so I don’t put much into rankings.

OSU will always have more talent than Wisky so that's deceptive. He's been solid in bowl games, players love him.

He runs 3-4, influenced by Rex Ryan.

Wisconsin recruits at or near the top of their division. The last time a Big Ten West school other than Wisconsin landed a 5 star was 2017. So those “small white dudes” are as good or better athletes than what the majority of teams in the division have.

Total offensive ranks for the B1G West nationally:

56) Purdue
65) Minnesota
74) Illinois
91) Wisconsin
102) Nebraska
107) Northwestern
130) Iowa

It’s not hard to post good defensive stats when that’s the crop of offenses you’re facing.

I'll admit, it is a concern of mine too. Not a lot of tough out of conference games to look at and not the best results against Michigan and Ohio State over his time as DC.

This is what my post was referring too. We sure this guy is elite (honest question)?

Pruitt then Schuman would be my picks. We need a high energy guy. Saban is 70+, the days of him jumping and screaming on the sidelines and during practice are probably at their end. Need someone to fill that roll.

I just hope we all don’t sit around getting our hopes up for a Pruitt/Schuman type guy and get some D2 “savior” that is underwhelming.

Would a combination of Glen Shumann at DC (coaching DBs), Freddie Roach coaching ILBs and Bo Davis coaching DLs with Pruitt as an analyst excite anyone?

As of this moment I’m hearing Schumann.

Schu and Pruitt are 1a and 1b for me, think Saban is going to hit a homerun here
