Considering there's only 1 NT spot, we're deep there too with Ivory, Lake, OJ and Frazier (though he could play DE). Elam is bigger than all those guys but is he considerably better? Maybe but I'm not so sure. Whereas Evans is considerably better pass rushing than any of our LBs.

Ivory is gone after next year and is not special at nose (gets single blocked by centers all the time). oj is going to flip to miss st. Who knows what will happen with lake? If elam can require a double team and be disruptive up the middle with explosiveness, then he will be very important to us and will play early.

That's the big question. I don't think there's any question that Evans is disruptive/explosive and will be a problem for teams that try to block him 1 on 1

quote:if he can bring that to the table then to me he is more important that evans. evans is a big time edge rusher, but we have some guys from this class and last class who also are big time edge guys. we dont have the big inside threat, which is especially important against a team like auburn, which tends to have a numbers advantage at the line by scheme. an elam helps you get back to even by soaking up 2 guys. you gotta beat auburn from the inside out. if i had to choose i would say elam. but hopefully we can get both

Elam just didn't look impressive to me at the Army game. id rather have Evans but would like both.

Max Wittek is graduating from USC and transferring. Think Kiffin tries?

I remember thinking we were going to land Cody Kessler at one point

Yep. Cody Kessler to USC started the dominoes to fall in the 2011 class that led to us taking Ely.

We fricked up on QBs a lot in the past few years.

I want Evans more than Elam. Evans would be an instant impact guy as a pass rusher
I tend to agree. I think Elam is probably more of a "need" but Evans will have more of an immediate impact (at least one I can see on Saturdays) and, more importantly, I don't care who UK signs.

Even if he had interest in transferring to Alabama, I could see USC wanting to block it because of Kiffin. But then again, they might have a say since it's not a "normal" transfer.

If he did transfer here he could grow Bama bangs in no time
