One thing I don't understand, and granted, I am not a huge rankings watcher, but how is Hootie a composite 5 star on 247, when every single service, including 247, has him a four star? What am I missing?

He's in that 30-40ish range on all the sites. You have guys (like Matt Elam) who are 5 stars on 1 site,then not even top 100 on others, when their numbers get averaged and a ranking is created from that, Hootie is 31st and a 5 star

Hootie told an interviewer that he woke up an LSU commit, prayed about it before he got to school, then felt Alabama was the right choice. Maybe this is God making up for the miracle play that went against us in Jordan Hare

He's a fluid athlete. Great in coverage. The guy is a lock down corner back at 6'2" 215. He's got a great feel for the game and is an instinctive player. He'll need to work on his physicality in the run game. He reminds me a bit of Clinton-Dix coming out. Not quite as physical but a better pure cover guy, especially in man. He just has a feel for coverage.
His coverage is good enough that he could see substantial time at star next year in my opinion.
All in all Hootie Jones is a stud, he's an under rated player IMO and I'm very excited he chose Alabama. He's a natural on the field.

Given the "I woke up LSU" statement, what do y'all think are the chances he ultimately flips to LSU?

I'd be a lot more nervous if he was not an ee. Our staff is visiting him tomorrow, and he still has to OV to Bama. The dead period is coming up in two weeks. I'm not sure if we have to follow that with the ee paperwork he signed, but that is less
time for LSU to get back in the picture.
Part of me wonders if he really was that undecided or if he said it to take some heat away from him. If he claims he is that on the fence, perhaps LSU people in the area won't give him as hard of a time because they don't want to scare him away from flipping.

So Orgeron resigned from USCw. I wonder what that does for Viane Talamaivao? Juju Smith? Damien Mama?

Sark has an assassin on the trails in that Tosh Lupoi guy and he is heading to USCw as well, so I'm not sure if this will really hurt them. Sark should have relationships with the west coast guys himself anyway...

Lupui is trash. He couldn't get Washington in those three's top group. Why would they follow him just because he's at USC?

If there is another Landon Collins out there please send him our way. I don't think people understand how awesome he is. Perfect size, great speed, physical, and what sets him apart is his fundamentally sound tackling.

I was worried if the USC hire was big time enough and the offense they ran was a pro style that we would face some heat on Ricky Town.

Some were saying the Cali class of qbs is insane in 2015. It makes you wonder how much time USC will spend trying to flip Town. Another thing in favor of us keeping Town is that his parents are wealthy enough to be able to afford airfare to Ttown more than once a year.
