Best fits for uncommitted 5-stars:

quote:

Laurence Jones, S

Best fit: Alabama or LSU

At 6'2" and 214 pounds, Laurence Jones is a 5-star safety who looks like a linebacker. He has great range on the third level, as the Louisiana native displays great speed to make a variety of plays.

Jones is at his best when he can roam around to jump passing lanes. Alabama and LSU are his top schools, says 247Sports. Both schools have a history of producing great defensive backs, so Jones can't go wrong with either choice.

quote:

Damien Mama, OG

Best fit: USC, Alabama or Wisconsin

Damien Mama is a talented 5-star offensive lineman who has the potential to dominate at guard. He is 6'4" and 370 pounds, plus he has outstanding strength at the point of attack.

Mama is not restricted to just mauling in a phone booth, as the big man has light feet to play in space. The California native can powerfully anchor versus massive defensive linemen with ease.

USC is in the mix for Mama, along with Wisconsin and Alabama, per 247Sports. He would be a great fit at any of those three programs.

quote:

Raekwon McMillan, LB

Best fit: Alabama or Georgia

Raekwon McMillan is capable of playing middle linebacker in a 4-3 scheme, but he would be even better as an inside 'backer in a 3-4 defense.

The 5-star recruit has great size at 6'2" and 242 pounds, plus he plays like a giant at the point of attack. McMillan possesses above-average range to man the middle by himself, but his overall skill set would reach its peak faster in a scheme such as Alabama's or Georgia's.

quote:

Tony Brown, CB

Best fit: LSU or Alabama

Tony Brown is one of the most talented high school football players in the country. The 5-star defensive back can play all three general coverage techniques in an impressive fashion.

At 6'0" and 188 pounds, Brown can play cornerback on the field side or boundary. He also has the skills to play both safety positions, plus Brown can help at nickel cornerback and even outside linebacker.

The Texas native has great speed and instincts, and he displays impressive strength. Brown is expected to sign with LSU, say many of the experts at 247Sports.

He would also be a candidate for immediate playing time at Alabama.

quote:

Lorenzo Carter, OLB/DE

Best fit: Alabama

It's easy to envision 5-star defensive end Lorenzo Carter doing similar things at Alabama to what Jason Taylor did with the Miami Dolphins under head coach Nick Saban.

At 6'5" and 232 pounds, Carter has the athleticism and pass-rushing ability to play the "Jack" linebacker position for 'Bama.

The Peach State prospect has good quickness at the snap to burst upfield. Carter can put his hand down to rush, but he also displays the athleticism to be fine from a 2-point stance.

quote:

Marlon Humphrey, CB

Best fit: Alabama

Marlon Humphrey would be wise to sign with Alabama, as he would receive excellent coaching. Head coach Nick Saban is one of the best defensive back tutors in the business, so the 5-star recruit would be schooled in a pro-style setting.

Humphrey, who is 6'1" and 175 pounds, has the prototypical awareness and instincts 'Bama wants in a cornerback prospect. Plus, Humphrey plays a position that is needed in Tuscaloosa.

quote:

Leonard Fournette, RB

Best fit: Alabama

Although Leonard Fournette could very well choose to sign with in-state powerhouse LSU (247Sports), the 5-star recruit would be an outstanding fit in Tuscaloosa.

Alabama has seven great offensive linemen in its 2014 recruiting class, so Fournette would have a lot of running room. As a program known for its commitment to running the football, 'Bama would surely know how to use the 6'1", 226-pound Fournette.

He'll be fine wherever he goes, but the Crimson Tide could put Fournette in the best position to succeed at the next level.

I only posted the ones that listed Alabama. FWIW, they predicted that Hand was a better fit at Michigan.

I wonder if this speaks to the staff's confidence in landing Hootie and Hampton.

In todays market place Im not so sure about that. Either way, unless this kid is a mensan, he wont be able to play D1 football and be in the engineering program.

You do realize that Andrew Luck graduated from Stanford with an Architectural Engineering degree right? It can be done. Won't be easy, but it can be done.

LSU is in the hunt for David sharpe but I don't agree that he is the "5 star" billing they say he is

Eta. I'm here to just talk recruiting.

I heard cam rob is comin down for the Texas A&M and LSU game. Not that it means much but we are gonna have him on campus.

Is his official this week to y'all?

Watch out for Auburn landing 5-star OT David Sharpe. Supposedly his two leaders, Georgia and Florida, don't have room for him. Auburn just offered yesterday.
How the frick does ANY program not have room for a 5-star OT, let alone those two underachievers?

First off, he basically wants schools to promise him the starting LT position as a freshman. This isn't practical for a good team, since he isn't nearly developed enough to start yet.

To add to this, he's said numerous times that he likes basketball more than football, and wants the opportunity to play both in college, hindering his needed development as an OL. It almost seems like he's just trying to parlay his football skills into a college basketball career.

His work ethic has been questioned by more than one analyst. Luke Stampini (UF 247) went as far as to say his 5* status will be short-lived.

I don't know about UF, but spots are really tight for UGA in this class. Sharpe is a pretty big risk that it doesn't look like UGA wants to take unless there's space at the end. High upside on Sharpe, but also high bust risk.

Has it been confirmed? Haven't seen anything on geaux247. I know there was buzz on the LSU side about him wanting to come for the FL game, but I don't think that ever came to be

Remember that time an "insider" on the LSURb said Oliver Luck was going to be the next AD at Texas and Saban would follow?

Strike one.

If we got those three, Hootie, Hampton, and kept our highly recruited guys (Cam and Miller) this class would be epic.

Perhaps this means we will continue to increase our pursuit of Rashaan Evans.

Writing may be on the wall as well, as he has the greatest relationships with 2 Auburn commits.
