Kerryon Johnson news from his visit to FSU:

quote:

** Before kickoff, running backs coach Jay Graham went out of his way to find 4-star junior running back Kerryon Johnson on the sidelines. Graham and Johnson spoke for a couple minutes during the meeting. While Alabama and Auburn continue to heavily pursue the in-state prospect, Florida State is in the driver's seat with Johnson. Johnson is very comfortable with Graham and his area recruiter, defensive coordinator Jeremy Pruitt. He has also found a lot of comfort in talking to current Seminoles.

fricking Pruitt.

quote:

** There have been some questions as to what position FSU will recruit Alabama 4-star 2015 RB/S Kerryon Johnson. I'm told he's been offered to play where ever he wants. And that doesn't mean FSU plans to bring him in at one position and move him to another. Right now he wants to play running back in college and I'm told FSU is fully on board with that.

Check this out regarding next year's move to the playoff system:

quote:

Starting this week, I'll include a section that will show what the new big-six bowl lineup (including playoff matchups) would hypothetically look like if the new postseason format were already in place. For this exercise, I'll use the current BCS standings in place of the forthcoming selection committee's rankings.

Sugar: No. 1 Alabama (SEC champ) vs. No. 4 Ohio State (Big Ten champ)
Rose: No. 2 Florida State (ACC champ) vs. No. 3 Oregon (Pac-12 champ)
Fiesta: No. 5 Stanford (at-large) vs. No. 16 Fresno State (Group of Five)
Cotton: No. 6 Baylor (displaced Big 12 champ) vs. No. 9 Auburn (at-large)
Orange: No. 7 Clemson (ACC replacement) vs. No. 8 Missouri (SEC/Big Ten/Notre Dame)
Chick-fil-A: No. 10 Oklahoma (at-large) vs. No. 11 Miami (at-large)

The Sugar and Rose bowls are scheduled to host the first semifinals next year, with No. 1 Alabama getting the first choice of geographic placement.

• Big 12 champ Baylor, displaced from the Sugar Bowl, would make the most sense in the Cotton Bowl.

• Clemson would replace ACC champ Florida State in the Orange Bowl, and Missouri, as the highest-ranked available team from among the SEC, Big Ten and Notre Dame, would get the other Orange Bowl spot.

• Stanford and Fresno State (the highest-ranked team from the Group of Five conferences) would make the most geographic sense in the Fiesta Bowl.

• Oklahoma would be placed in the Chick-fil-A Bowl to avoid a conference rematch with Baylor. Auburn would be placed in a traditional SEC bowl, and Miami would be placed in a traditional ACC bowl.

So the #1 team gets to pick the location of the national semi-final? I didn't know that. Of course we'd pick New Orleans over Pasadena. That would be awesome.

I hope they don't use this when picking the playoff top four. Here is a scenario.

Say we have this next year.

Alabama (13-0, SEC Champions)
LSU (11-1)
Wisconsin (12-1, B1G Champions)
Oregon (13-0, Pac-12 Champions)
Oklahoma (11-1, Big XII Champions)

Just using random teams with Oregon/Oklahoma.

Now, Alabama and Oregon go unbeaten, they're probably in.

Then you have three other candidates, all have one loss, but LSU didn't win their conference. HOWEVER, LSU beat Wisconsin head to head in the opener. Does Wisconsin really deserve to be in over them just because of a possible LSU/Bama rematch in the title game? I would like a Q and A with the committee and see someone bring up this scenario.

Zach Whitley is 100% committed. TAMU has been selling him on proximity to home and early playing time. Oddly enough, the proximity to home is working against TAMU. Whitley says that there are influences in his inner circle guy that he wants together away from. He is graduating in December and plans on being an early enrollee.

Also forgot to mention he is changing his OV to December and isn't taking anymore official visits.

Per the Aubie recruiting thread:

quote:

Per AUC Rashaan Evans will UOV Bama this Saturday and Auburn for Amen corner. He will announce his OV dates to Auburn, Bama, and UGA soon. UT or Ole Miss may get the other OV. He has 4 left after OVing UCLA in September.

quote:

CJ Hampton via twitter [quote]@_Hamp4dEM 14h Are you considering Auburn? — I had a bad visit down there kind of." AUC says he felt he did not get enough attention and did not like his seats. He tweeted he would give Auburn another chance though for whatever that's worth.

From the UGA recruiting thread

quote:

** ‘Kwon Calls It? … An Ohio high school coach was on the field during warm-ups for the Ohio State-Penn State game Saturday night along with one of his players who was invited for an unofficial visit. Suddenly, the coach realizes he’s standing next to Raekwon McMillian and strikes up a conversation with the five-star linebacker. “Maybe I caught him in a moment of jubilation, but he told me, quote, ‘I’m definitely a Buckeye, man,’” the coach said. “He just had this glowing look about him and was saying how much he loves the place. He said, quote, ‘This is where I’ll be playing next year.’” We heard from a different source Luke Fickell spent several hours before the game on Saturday rolling out the scarlet-carpet treatment for McMillan and his parents. It sure sounds like it worked.

As long as we get Marlon I'm fine with no more 5 stars. FSU is our new recruiting rival it seems

Free Shoes is going to be a pain in the arse to us as long as Pruitt is there. Here's to hoping he takes a head coaching job at Florida Atlantic or some other mid major.

Not upset at all about Kerryon. RB is not a position of need.
