Bone said last night that Bama hasn't really pushed on Evans yet, but could change as the camps start.

He's my favorite instate recruit next to Roc Thomas this year. Dude is a terror on the edge, he plays like he's shot out of a cannon.

Hopefully his dad tells him to go to Bama

Best QB in this class IMO.

Go to page 2 for the 2014 QB analysis thread. My thoughts on him are in there.

That would be great to land the best QB in the class.Do we take one or two quarterbacks in this class?

I think he's top 5 at worst.

His Junior stats were pretty decent:

191 of 338 for 3742 yards, 27 TDs, 8 INTs, 755 yards rushing, and 6 rushing TDs.

I think Deshaun Watson is the best QB this year on a complete package basis. Huge talent and stats in 5A Georgia for the Gainsville Red Elephants, the same school Blake Sims attended.

Can Cornwell run? 700 yards is a lot for a cement shoes QB even in a state without much HS football talent like Oklahoma.

I think he may have above average abilities running, but are magnified by the the offense. Alex Morris had 300+ his Senior year and he's pretty lumbering.

1:22 he breaks a sizable run:

Morris is pretty athletic on the hoof. He is far more athletic than AJ and isn't a little guy. That is one of the first things that coach Nuss talked to him about when he met Alec was him maintaining his speed and using his size. Nuss is pretty high on his potential.

Nothing "lumbering" about a 4.5-6

...and you can trust Saint he knows his shite, was saying that about Hackenburg when he was way down Rivals list and he ended up #2 overall top 10 prospect

I feel like we will land him since we can clearly point and say "Look AJ is a Sr, will be a 1st rd pick, etc"

First off, I am pretty sure he's not ran anything other than hand timed, which can take .2-.3 seconds off your time.

I did not say he was slow in whatever 10, 20, 30, or 40 yard dash. As a runner, as in his running style, is lumbering. He can run some read option, but he's not some quick cat that's gonna dominate running the ball. He's Ben Roethlisberger on his feet, able to move the pocket and sometimes get out of the way. But when it comes to making someone miss, it's due to his core strength rather than his ability to shake someone out of their shoes. Morris is strong guy with several weight room records at Allen.

I watched several Allen games his Senior year, it's where I became a big fan of Andrew Rodriquez. He can pick up 5 yards or less, and score on goal line runs from the gun or pistol.

But because he runs a 4.6 in some fashion, doesn't mean he's the same type of runner of an Alfred Morris.

And Elisha Shaw just named Alabama and Georgia his co-leaders.

Technically that's a downgrade, as Bama was his sole leader back in December

1:51 mark.....

2:12 mark......

4:10 mark......

5:00 mark.........this is what will likely help the most that AJ REFUSES to do 99% of the time

I'm not saying he's Michael Vick, but we haven't had a QB this big (with a great arm) who can/will move like this. Ely is surprisingly athletic, that kid has some wheels on him if he could only make all the throws and see over the offensive line,

In terms or running ability/athleticism, I would put Morris in the same category as JPW. But being that he's little bigger and thicker than JPW he'll probably be a little better at shaking off arm tackles in the pocket.

ETA: before anyone takes it the wrong way, the JPW comparison was meant to be complimentary

Unlike most QBs, Morris does take his training pretty seriously. You can coast with the minimum as a QB, but Morris is out there lifting tractor tires and flipping 400lbs. And it shows in his game.

I agree he's a different breed when it comes to Bama's recent pro style QBs, having more fleetness of foot. I do expect him to have way more yard rushing than McCarron, who checked in with 4 yards on 49 carries for 2012. I refer back to Morris being strong, it gives him a better opportunity to break a tackle than McCarron couldn't dream of doing.

The fact that schools can easily let you go after in a change in coaching, head or assistant, tells me Nussmeier saw what McElwain saw in his evaluation. '14 should be exciting on the QB front.

OL Andy Bauer will be taking a trip to Bama after they hire an OL coach. Presently Bobby Williams is recruiting him until a coach is in place.

He just received an UGA offer today.

yeah. alec has a lot of upside for us, i speak with his dad quite a bit and he is very serious about his training, keeping his weight in check and works on his speed more than many people would think.

Nuss has gone over the differences in being a running QB (which we really don't need) and being a Qb who can run (which is what we need)and the advantages that a QB who can run gives our offense. .........I always go back to that damn sack in 2011 against LSwho in the first game in overtime when A-mac just laid down ......NEVER EVER want to see that shite happen. He did it a couple times last yr too, got brought down with one arm by a defender who barely touched him. TAMU game was one of them, drives me nuts
