Ya I wasn't trying to compare really as much as say AU thinks Okoro is a better fit. We also are recruiting his entire team too
Watford is clearly an incredible player. Snagging him would be a huge pickup

Yeah okoro is definitely elite as well

I probably should add, due to being shorthanded (missing 3 coaches) AU hasn't had much time to devote to recruiting. So I could be mistaking lack of noise regarding AL recruits for "cooling down" on them. All our recruiting noise is just coming from GA right now tho
I think for Bama though, ya'll have the inside lane for both Watford + Lewis. I know you think Avery is needed for both, but I disagree. I think if Bama makes a solid hire, they could parlay early recruiting inroads to make the signings
I still think Crean becoming a HC somewhere is a massive deal with Watford. If he gets any kind of attractive position, I think Watford goes with Crean

DJ Jeffries is pretty much down to 3 schools: Kentucky, Bama, and Miss St
Kentucky seems to be the leader LINK

Can Diante Wood shoot?
Haven't kept up with him, but before this year he wasn't a great shooter. Decent mid-range game, but his 3FG shooting wasn't impressive.

Jared Butler PG ESPN Recruiting Analysis
quote:
Strengths:
A highly competitive prospect who scores behind the arc or can make the assist. Half of his attempts from the perimeter usually are from beyond the three point line. His passing skill and assist making ability is evident as he can set up his teammates. He is considered an average basketball athlete with a solid basketball IQ. His jump shot is effective out to the 3pt line but needs more polish to be a legitimate threat.
Weaknesses:
Butler is a high assist maker at 4.5 APG (D1circuit.com) but his turnovers per game are high as well 2.5 TOPG so he must put more of a premium on his decision making. Defensively he may struggle when elite level quickness is up on him tight. Learning to acquire the attack, retreat and attack dribble will help him create space against hard pressure.
Bottom Line:
Butler can run a team and make open shots so he will be in high demand because of being an eventual full time point guard. He must make sure to understand where his teammates want and like the ball best. Defensively he needs to understand angles and play them versus the fast more athletic guards. On his way to being a high major lead guard.

I think efficiency is key for us going forward. Sexton really elevates this offense, but having a solid fundamentally sound PG that can distribute the ball can do wonders for a team that returns a good bit of talent and essentially everyone.
I don't think we really need another volume scorer like Petty, but rather just a reliable jump shooter from outside that can come off the bench and hit 2-4 a game.

Sucks to hear. He looks like he has a decent stroke, but Avery's offense looks like he's very reliable on attacking the paint and shots from outside. Not a lot of mid-range jumpers.

That's why the basketball gods created grad transfers
This year alone in SEC

- Kass Robertson 44%
- 3Gor 40%
- James Daniel 35%

Jared Butler is a very good three point shooter. He is a very good point guard over all.
Diante Wood is a physical guard, he had a lot of games in HS where he would get 15 or more rebounds while also scoring 20+ points. We could definitely use better rebounding. He can come off the bench to replace Petty, Key, or Ingram. He is very versitle.

We have Tevin Mack who transferred here and sat out this year. Shot 40% from three last year for Texas and was their leading scorer averaging 15 ppg. (Added bonus is that he is 6'7. He is also a former 4 star and was a top 60 recruit coming out of HS according to 247)
