He seems fairly accurate from midrange when I watch...can't expect him to shoot too much as the fifth or sixth option.

Wiseman talked about the schools that remained in the mix with his recruitment and he didn’t mention Bama

it will be interesting to see how this ncaa FBI mess affects basketball recruiting. Appears its about to blow up. NCAA director says its time to clean up the basketball recruiting cesspool.

The only way this happens is if the NBA gets rid of the one-and-done. Until there a reason for players to fear losing their eligibility, they'll keep right on milking the system - and as long as the best of the best require a one year lease payment, someone will be willing to risk it for a title shot.

I'd be happy with a baseball esque 2 and done w/ HS entry allowed

I'd also like for players to make some $ but that's a different discussion

I'd only be OK with that if they would let HS kids who don't hire agents still opt for college if they aren't drafted. There has to be some mechanism to protect kids from the shitty people around them who are out for a cash grab.

To pay every scholarship basketball player $50k a year in college it would require $650000 per school. To pay every scholarship football player it would require around $4.3M per schoool

Perhaps we can start out in the $3k-$5k range. $50k seems excessive.

IMO paying players still will not clean up recruiting, if that is what we are discussing.

But also, the free education argument does not address the top level athlete who is forced to go to college rather than earn money professionally and who has no desire or perceived need for a degree. The college degree is not the key or even stepping stone to their financial or professional success.

Most of the population understands the value of a college education because we worked our way through college, paid our kids way through college or could not afford college for ourselves. But a 5 star recruit may only be going to college because they are just required to do so before going pro.

The solution to the problem will never happen in my opinion. A true minor league for NBA/NFL. Neither league wants the added expenses and the NCAA does not want to become devoid of the top ranked recruits.

I am certain I am in the minority, but I would enjoy NCAA sports more in this scenario but also realize it is not an option.

If you gave every kid $50,000 a year, 75% of them would end up in prison before their junior year.

Doubtful. We're not the type of program that can get top guys in in a short time period. To get top guys we have to establish a long term relationship

Tournament season has begun. The Atlantic Sun has tipped off. We should be watching these with great interest as our tournament lives may depend on how many bids are stolen in the tournaments. Unless we get another couple of wins, we could be depending on few upsets to get in.
