We are ranked 94th out of 340 teams in team three point percentage at 35.5 percent. Which is very good considering we have shot the 2nd most threes of any team in the country.

We are third in the country in made three pointers.

So to think we are a bad shooting team would be stupid, to answer your question.

Not sure, but we are a really good defensive team that held a Bruce Pearl team scoring 77 a game to 58 (2nd lowest output of the year, unless I missed one).

When the team is on and playing D the way they can, it is a Final 4 team.

When they struggle with perimeter shooting, can't get good penetration, and don't rebound well (not to mention getting outscored at the FT line), they still compete well.

It's a very good team with solid senior leadership.

Very glad to be SEC Champs no matter the tourney result. Amazing how far they have come, so quickly under Oats.

Herb looking good going to the basket and finishing again is huge. That was a big key when we were playing our best.

Was great to see Shack get out of his shooting slump too, we need him hitting shots.

Can’t win them all. Freshman wall.

Hopefully Primo can get over that freshman wall soon, he is one of out best pure shooters.

So we are a mediocre shooting team who got hot for a stretch, a bad shooting team whose numbers got inflated by an awesome stretch, or a good shooting team whose numbers have been hampered by unfortunate stretches. Lots of ways to look at the mediocre figure you just posted.

Now gfy

Being in the top 31% of teams in shooting percentage when you shoot the 2nd most threes of any team isn't mediocre.

IMHO we still aren’t deep enough to run Nate’s style and pace. He rotates a lot of guys in but our true rotation is maybe 8 players with others getting spot minutes. The starting 7 or 8 are tired, leg weary. They play well in spurts then they get tiredand get sloppy. Almost every aspect of their reduced production is usually related to fatigue. Primo has hit the freshman wall, and the rest of the young guys just aren’t developed enough to really spell tge rotation, give them a day off. That’s why we’re winning with D and the offense is sputtering and the 3’s aren’t falling.

I think we play more guys than Nate ever has. I don't think depth is the problem. In fact, i don't think there is a problem. We won 20 games, and the SEC. Being better than that will only happen on years when all the stars align.

Not to he that guy but that's what I've mentioned more than once and gotten no response.

I really think it has alot to do with it. Pace, playing tough defense, short bench and jump shooting don't mix well long term.

Yeah I don’t think depth is the reason we’ve been shooting poorly as of late. Petty has been even streakier than normal, Primo has had a huge regression, and Shack has been a volume shooter more than an efficient one. But all it takes is them to put together a couple game stretch of being hot and we roll some teams in the tourney.

Agreed. We play 10 guys - that is a lot for college basketball. And pretty much every night 8-9 of those guys are getting decent minutes.

Depth is one of the strengths of this team in my view.

We could get back to making more shots. I don’t see a lot to complain about outside of that (granted that’s a big thing).

But Teague, my opinion is outside of Herb, Petty, Shack, Q, Bruner and maybe Primo/Ellis, nobody contributes enough to stay out there long. The offense suffers. They just spell guys, they don’t maintain the flow of the game. I know most teams don’t go any deeper than that either but for Nate’s offense to work, every player has to be a scoring threat when they are out there or the thing breaks down into iso ball, bad decisions, bad shots and turnovers. KAH and Gary and Ellis may get significant minutes but their 4.9 PPG or less average isn’t going to scare anyone into defending them closely.

Thankfully our defense has been the one consistent nearly every game which should keep us from losing to a 14/15 seed in the tourney no matter how we shoot. Hopefully our defense can beat a 6 or 7 seed too without being hot from deep and let us make it to the sweet 16.
