Ooof. That may have been the ugliest game they've played under Oats. The shooting has been shite both games.

I don't have a warm and fuzzy feeling anymore after waiting all year to see this team. I hope they show up soon.

I thought Ellis was supposed to be a scorer? Bruner is a role player, which is fine. He's an improvement at the five. Rojas is ok, but I think he has a 5" vertical. Primo has a long way to go. Petty has been ice cold. Shack hasn't shot the ball very well either. Reese looked a lot better tonight. Quinerly has played pretty well. Overall it's pretty disappointing.

OK Chad, you keep trying to neutralize or dismiss my comments...I've been watching Bama basketball since the Wimp Sanderson days. I've seen basketball coaches come and go at Bama since then. Teams that play suffocating defense but couldn't score, teams that had talent but didn't adjust in-game, teams that wanted to run but didn't have the talent. Oats has recruited talent for his style but when that style stumbles, there is no fall-back approach. My problem is that no team can just be good in one aspect. Play great defense but you have to hit shots, inside or out. Play great offense but you have to have an inside guy or guys that can alter shots and rebound. This team and this coach seem to not have any interest in playing BOTH ends of the floor.

You keep saying these things and we keep telling you - nobody is arguing with your analysis. Nobody is telling you that's wrong.

What we are telling you is the Alabama basketball coach isn't going to stop playing the way he plays. He's said it and shown it over and over again.

It's really that simple.

My honest rational thoughts are this.....Ithought We played good defense early and Stanford just made tough shots. But we didn’t shoot the ball well and eventually that ruined our effort on defense which then Stanford buried us.

Oh well, regroup like we're used to, hopefully beat the running rebels to go to 2-1.

We were grinding through our offensive issues early, but as some point we lost our cool and started trying to do too much.

Stanford just forced us out of our comfort zone and we caved. Simple as that. Pretty dissapointing.

No, George. Chad seems to think my comments bring nothing to these threads. You can say I'm not wrong about my observations but this guy thinks I have no idea what I'm talking about. This team will never go very far if there is no plan B. You know it and I know it.

It's because we are going to the elite eight, instead.

The Bama team I saw play tonight looks more like they've got to get a lot better to even make it into the top 8 in the SEC.

It was 29-32 going into the final four minutes before the half, and they went on a 9-0 run to push it to 29-41.

Seems like it finally got away from us right there, and we never really recovered.

We are in the running for elite eight of the mental midgets tournament annually. Don't give up.

Plan B ? Coacges hav3 a philosophy ,style of play .Trust me h3 has sets for all situations. We did not execute and play his preffered style tonight bc Stanford dictared that.Every break went their way and our effort etc sucked. It happens we will be alright . Im more confident in saying this than in many years but weve got the right guy. He can coach and will get it going sooner than later.

Its a shitty ketdown for a very battered and scared bball fanbase. Whom probably put too much stock and high ecpectations that this would be our coming out party. Its not over just postponed a little while. We will be aight lets not turn on coach just yet. shite like this happens and we will know sooner than later if he can cut it.

I don't claim to be an x's and o's expert, but why do we insist on running offense through Herb? He's just not a skilled offensive player. In fact, I don't know if I can think of a lineup where he isn't the worst offensive player on the court. I love the guy, but it seems to me he needs to be the cleanup guy getting rebounds and put-backs, not the guy driving into the lane.

Now I can get down with this. Thank you for posting your actual thoughts instead of just saying we suck or taking shots at me for no reason.

I will say this (in case you have missed it during interviews or pressers), Oats harps pretty consistently on the defensive aspect of the game. He is obviously an offensive minded coach, but he has said many times that defense is extremely important as well and that we have to be better on that side of the ball to be the complete team he wants us to be. We are obviously not there yet, but Oats is at least aware that it's something that must be improved.

His offensive philosophy is not going to change under any circumstances, no matter who wants it to change. And honestly, I don't want it to change either at this point. When we run it well, it's a thing of beauty and we are an extremely dangerous offensive team. We haven't been very consistent with it yet either though. Running any offensive system at its peak performance really requires all five players on the floor to be able to just run, read and react. We saw it at times last season, but we haven't seen it yet through two games. We are still seeing guys running just to run instead of running for a reason. Not everyone knows their purpose yet and playing within that role. Maybe i'm naive, but I think that will come in time. We need it to come sooner rather than later though.

I do think we need to dial the minute distribution and rotations in a bit though. I know it's only the second game, but I would like to see a solid plan before the end of the noncon. And obviously we need to start hitting more shots. We have been a very poor shooting team so far, which is kryptonite for the system we run.
