Keon Ellis was a huge reason our defense was so good the last 10 minutes.
He was everywhere and he made every drive and look uncomfortable. He and Herb can really mess up an offense that wants to beat you off the dribble.

Can we give Kentucky some credit for playing great defense and taking us out of what we wanted to do? We aren't gonna play many teams with their toughness and length on D.
Kentucky played great on defense I think they held us to two or three, three point attempts in the second half, props to us for not forcing them up anyway.

This is an unofficial tally, but I think every bone in Herb Jones's body has been broken at some point in the last two seasons. And all the dude does is put up stats. Dude is a WARRIOR

Kentucky has length that affects us for sure, but the ball didn’t swing at all. We didn’t even try for the large majority of the game. It was three guys standing and watching the other two isolate. Just didn’t make sense, especially since we weren’t finishing at the rim either.

I don't know what the deal was from the 15 minute mark to about the 3 minute mark.
We started screening and moving the ball the last 3 minutes, and we got better drives and more defensive chasing.
I'm really not sure what the deal was before.
Part of me wants to believe it's that we just didn't have any way of playing inside. We are just beat to hell and they don't really trust Gary or KAH enough to run the offense through them.

Gonna be interesting to see what happens with Cal. Don't want Kentucky coming after Oates.
Get him a extension and raise asap

They are built to beat us with their athletic length if their guys can be disciplined enough not to help on drives defensively. They did that to perfection tonight.
They truly rattled us offensively. We lost our minds for a while when we got guys on our hip but had no open guy to kick to.

Keon has always been active on D. If Q is off any, then Ellis should eat all his minutes

They took away the three for sure... glad we figured out how to win another way.

Play of the game was at 54-52 Kentucky. We literally couldn’t get a pass off, so we had to toss it towards Gary who had to catch the ball and throw a wild pass in one motion as he was about to step out of bounds. The wild pass baited Jackson into fouling Herb. Made the free throws to tie the game up and then never looked back.
#13 in offensive efficiency for a reason.

Alabama puts on a clinic on how to close a game, going on a 17-5 run in the final 3:30 to win the game 70-59. Now a showdown with #24 Oklahoma in Norman awaits the Tide on Saturday.
Yep, crowd those last 3 minutes showed up huge.

When we get done celebrating our team’s resiliency, can we discuss our ball movement or lack thereof? What were we trying to accomplish the last 30 minutes of the game? The ball never moved...strictly iso ball. That’s not what got us to where we are.
UK’s height and reach were giving us problems. Our drive and dish game wasn’t working because they were able to fill the passing lanes so we were settling for contested layups many of which were blocked. UK has tall athletic players all over the court and when a team like that brings intensity on defense it’s difficult.
