Oklahoma 75
(9) Kansas 68

FINAL

Oklahoma should be playing with some confidence going into the SEC/B12 game next week. We need to keep it rolling this week and go into Norman hot to get a win.

Bama has to beat OU. If they don't, Bama will be lightly regarded come tournament time and get a lower seed.

With what Bama has done in SEC play vs being 0-3 against good nonconference teams, everyone will just say the SEC is down and that's the only reason Bama is winning.

OU is a MUST win game.

Villanova is a pretty big basketball school. Wright has it made there and there's really no reason for him to go anywhere unless a Duke, UNC, Kansas come calling. And I'm pretty sure other at least one school has sniffed around at his interest leaving Villanova in recent years. Forget who it was though. Maybe UCLA or Arizona?

And I'd argue that Virginia is in that same tier as Villanova in the basketball world - just below the tier of Kentucky, Duke, UNC, Kansas, etc.

Yeah, they are a tier below Duke because Wright and Bennett have done so well there, they weren't a tier below Duke before they hired them.

MSU has some size inside, so I'm guessing with Bruner out people are throwing money on MSU
This is my thought. What would happen if we can't drive effectively, and MSU leaves the bigs in the paint and the others to guard the 3-point line?...it could get interesting.

If they leave their bigs in the paint, our "bigs" will be shooting wide open threes.

You just leave the big men in the paint and you’re giving us any shot we want on the perimeter.

Not sure you want to give even Herb and Reese unguarded 3s all game, and even if they miss a lot of them we’d have other options. Easy ball screens, pick and pops, Herb given all the space in the world to play make, etc.

I think Oats is going to be targeting those two big men on defense. Make them do stuff they don’t want to be doing.

Right, they could maybe sag a little here and there and just live with some shots, but they can’t just camp out by the basket. We’d pick them apart.

I suspect what they’re hoping for is to use one of their big men to pick up two quick ones on Herb. Which obviously could happen.

That’s a great point. With their interior size, we need Herb out there defensively. I wouldn’t mind playing one of the young guys for a bit at the 5 to keep Herb out of foul trouble early.

For reference, that’s good for 5th in the country this season. Copper has definitely taken that team to the next level on offense.

This game and our next game vs Kentucky would be the games we need him most with Bruner out. That's pretty tough.

He'll probably miss Oklahoma and LSU too if it is Covid.

KAH looks like he's getting more and more comfortable each time out.

Gary also looking like a real contributor in the last few games. I like the strength that he plays with.
