I’ve emotionally/mentally recovered enough to drop in and say that was a heck of a game and it took years off my life

I'm still processing it all. I'm mixed between pissed and relieved that we won

We've talked about their effort, and that was important, but just as important was that he, Rojas, Ellis, and even Primo are just better on-ball defenders than the other guys. They force tougher shots and they are athletic enough to capitalize on snatching rebounds

Well if there's any optimism to he had on defense, it's that our best defenders do seem to be Oats' recruits.

I’ve already talked myself into believing we’re gonna win 4 of our next 5. I’m sure this will go away quickly after we go down double digits to WKU

What's it going to take for Bama to become a top tier basketball school?

We've recruited well this past year. When can we expect to start blowing out or at least beating teams we should?

How does Petty never show up when we need him?

The fact that we "NEED" him against a Furman is troubling in itself.

I know what you mean. I LOVE this team on paper but it's hard to stomach on the court. 70% of the time they appear to be completely out of control driving wildly for contested out of control shots in the lane which typically end up in either a miss, a turnover or an offensive foul. And we have to be the WORST fast break team in the history of college basketball. Never seen a team finish so poorly with numbers. With 2 minutes to go we had a 21-4 advantage in offensive rebounds and were down by 1 - that is UNHEARD of. We are shooting 27.4% from 3 AT HOME! And that is our OFFENSIVE gameplan! And Oats' substitution pattern is killing me. Petty has one of his worst games in crimson and plays 35 minutes. Gary has 10 pts/3 RBs in 8 minutes and if you average that out over Petty's 35 minutes that is 44 pts and 13 boards. I realize Gary is not gonna put up those numbers but he deserved more minutes tonight.

know Kira wasn’t a clutch free throw shooter, but wasn’t Shack also pretty bad at the end of a few games last year as well?

Only time I can think of that he wasn’t clutch was against...it was either Tennessee or A&M last year he got fouled on a 3 with less than a minute left down by 4 and he missed all 3.

Hey, Furman is a good basketball team. They returned almost everyone from a group that won 25 games last year. They have definite 12/5 upset potential this year.

25 games in the Southern Conference and lost to Wofford in the first round of their tournament. But they did beat Columbia International and Elon University so there's that. Let's face it, we never expect to be trailing a Southern Conference team AT HOME by 16 at any point in the game and that is the problem.

Lol, they gave us all we wanted last year and went to Auburn Arena and controlled the whole game until OT.

maybe its just me. but it seems like for years now, even before cno arrived, bama was the worst 5 foot and in shooting team i'd ever seen. idk if ive ever seen a team, for years in a row, that simply could not hit shots close to the basket. i fully expect there to be games like that occasionally. but with bama, its flipped upside down. it's only occasionally that they have games of consistent close range shooting.

I remember when we accepted that he wouldn't be as good as Kira on offense, but assumed he would be better defensively than Kira because it would be hard to be worse. He obviously accepted the challenge.

Miss those Michael Ansley / Melvin Cheatum days. Man, those guys could ball inside - within 8 ft.

I don’t think our starting Lineup will change but I think our main lineup that we use should be...

Herb
Primo
Petty
Gary
Rojas/Bruner

At least we know that group will defend.

Shack and Quinerly should never be on the floor together again.

Furman won at Villanova 2 years ago

They're a legitimate mid major. "Almost" losing to them is not an embarrassment. The way we played in the 1st half was an embarrassment.
