Maybe a storyline that was missed in the SEC tourney was the last 2mins or so was basically Herb vs Watford for which team wins.

I didn't scroll back through to check, so forgive me if this was posted, but what a tragedy with the player from Grand Canyon!!! Just awful!!

Completely shitty. What a roller coaster month if you are that kids parents. Watch your son play in March Madness then a few day later, he dies.

I'm glad. I'm moving into a new house on Saturday, and have been so distracted, I'm still behind where is like to be. If it were Friday and Sunday games, I'd be really screwed.

I rewatched all of the SEC tournament games and the Maryland game last night. It really is insane how Good Jahvon Quinerly has become. I think he is playing at a higher level right now than Colin or Kira ever did when they were here. That’s how good he is right now.

ESPN has an article re: "underdog" teams most likely to win in Sweet Sixteen.

Joe Lunardi with:

Looking ahead, the KenPom model gives UCLA the best chance to advance among the remaining double-digit seeds. But I'm going with Syracuse.

I think all the 'dogs have a good shot outside Creighton.

We need Gonzaga going out of this tourney in some fashion. At that point, it's wide open.

I agree.
Tbh, I wasn't impressed with him at point, the first half of the season (probably spoiled by the previous two). His decision making with his passes was suspect and he seemed out of control at times. It seems as if someone flipped on the light for the kid, and everything's slowed down for him.
I love his game and his intensity. He leaves it all out there now (like Herb).

I love it. For a guy who was so highly touted, but not have things go the way he expected at Nova, and the humbling experience of transferring. Yet he kept working as hard as ever, and that work had been paying off. He's been taking over have offensively, and making everyone around him better.

Hmmm. I love the enthusiasm. But Sexton almost win a game playing 3 on 5. As far as individual talent goes, Sexton is probably the most talented I've personally watched at Bama. But that's not too take anything away from Quin. But I do think that Quin did a better job of making his teammates play better, as a good PG should

That's not that crazy of a take actually. Not sure he is quite at that Sexton level yet, but JQ is definitely playing elite basketball right now. Not saying these three numbers paint the whole picture, but just for comparison sake.

JQ - win shares = 3.0 // BPM = 5.6 // PER = 18.3

Kira (soph) - win shares = 4.1 // BPM = 5.5 // PER = 19.8

Collin - win shares = 4.4 // BPM = 6.9 // PER = 23.5

Sexton running point in the Nate Oats offense would have been utterly ridiculous.

Less is certainly asked of JQ vs. those other guys, and it's been great to see JQ take full of advantage.

Sexton or Lewis on this year's team would be unreal. Allowing those two to be off the ball and able to drive through this much space would be almost unfair.

There's no doubt in my mind, that if Oats is some several years, we'll leave a talent similar to Sexton. With how good we've played, our style, and the publicity we've received about our style and success, I expect a lot of top recruits to want to play in Oats' system.

I mean...

JD is potentially at his level, though getting what I've seen, different style of play. With JD's slashing, finishing skills, and passing, we can be absolutely lethal on offense.

Offensive Rating according to KenPom

2018 Colin: 109.6
2019 Kira: 106.2
2020 Kira: 107.9
2021 JQ: 110.5

Obviously Kira and Colin played more minutes. But still impressive by JQ when you consider he had a few games there when he was still recovering from Covid where he was Terrible.

I think the main difference between now and 3 months ago is his decision making.

He and Shackleford both had at least 3-4 frustrating drives into guys a foot taller than them each game.

Now he's taking better shots and finishing at the rim. I don't know of anyone I'd trust more to make a shot if we were down 2 with 10 seconds left.
