I took tomorrow and Monday off. Really looking forward to the next four days of basketball.

I'm working at home both days until lunch then plop my old arse in a chair and love life. The best 30 days of sports is upon us - NCAAT, Masters, Opening Day, Spring hitting in full force.

We have the first upset of the NCAA Tournament: an announcer on Mt. St. Mary’s vs. Texas Southern called it a “tale of two halves” — and it wasn’t Avery Johnson.

I'm telling you - if we get past UConn (assuming we play them), I'll feel great about the rest of the bracket.

I have us beating Colorado to go to the Final Four in most of my brackets.

This Drake-Wichita State game is like when college football season used to start on a Thursday night and you’d wait all week for it and then South Carolina would beat NC State 6-3.

I'm also happy that our game is on Saturday instead of Friday. Give the guys a chance to watch some hoops and get a good feel for all of the pageantry and pomp and circumstance that goes along with NCAAT games before they get out there in front of everyone.

I just filled out a bracket that had exactly that. Been pretty focused on FSU or the Bonnies getting through until then.

UCLA/MichiganState should be a good one.

I’m honestly shocked we never played in one of these First 4 games as many times as we were on the bubble under Grant and Avery

Only team I am worried about in our bracket is UConn and LSU a 4th time. I think we beat the rest

I think Bonnies over LSU and then Michigan beats them but loses to the winner of FSU/Colorado.

I’m not not worried about Texas - they have good guard play and athletic big men. They could beat us.

And it’s possible that everyone is a little too down on Michigan because of the Livers injury.

But given the turnaround we’ve made (both within this season and from years past), I’d just feel more like we were playing with house money once we got to the Sweet 16. I would hate to lose before then, although I’d get over it.

Texas has 3 good big men but I’ve watched them like 6 or 7 times and they were sloppy everytime

If you’re a Drake fan, this has got to be pretty brutal.
Play all season for this moment and you’re sitting here wondering if your team is going to break 40.

Need you folks to give me a good bracket name for my FIL. Since I’ve decided not to do a bracket, I’ve taken it upon myself to name their brackets but I’m out of ideas. I like Covid related but will take anything funny

I don't want any part of FSU.

They are struggling to even get shots off. And Wichita State is like 103rd in defense on KenPoms so it’s not like they are that good defensively

This is insane. They can’t do anything. They have more shot clock violations than baskets this half and we’re over 7 minutes in.

Brutal basketball.

Back to back shot clock violations and 10 ft jumpers...

Thank God for Nate Oats.

Losing to Iona would suck really bad and would put a little bit of a black eye on an otherwise remarkable season.

Losing to Maryland in round two would also suck. Not that they are a bad team or anything against them, but that just isn't the quality of team I want ending our season if we do get beat.

Losing to Uconn would obviously suck as well, but to a much lesser extent than the other two - at least for me.

We get past those first two rounds and i'll happily accept any outcome that comes our way as long we play hard. Not saying that we can't lose to any of them, but we are 100% good enough to beat every single team we could potentially face en route to the Final Four against Gonzaga. I suppose we could even beat them if we played out of our minds, but that would be a tough hill to climb.

I'm ready to kick Iona's arse and then settle in to watch Maryland/Uconn battle it out so we can take care of business on Monday.
