I am surprised Abilene over Texas isn't getting much play for a big first round upset. Abilene is a really good mid-major and they've got the whole "you didn't think we were good enough for you" angle going for them since they're a small school in Texas.
I would absolutely welcome that.

Oh me too lol. If I had to pick two teams to pull off massive upsets it'd be them and North Texas. Really good defensive teams are always tough outs. There are a few high seeds with good offenses like Ohio and Colgate, but I'd much rather bet on a really good defensive team having a well timed hot shooting night than a really good offensive team randomly playing passable defense.

Ohio over Virginia and Winthrop over Villanova were two that immediately jumped out to me as upset picks. I'm not sure if I will stick with both before brackets lock, but both feel very realistic.
Utah State over Texas Tech is one I want to take a longer look at too.

Yea Winthrop immediately came to mind for me when the matchup popped up on the screen

I wonder why? I can’t imagine he’ll be in that high of demand at other high majors.

I would take. He has got potential, plus he is a legacy here. But between him, Myron, and Nimari I would take Nimari

Is Virginia even going to make it? Ohio might win by default.

No idea tbh, but that's two for them so far.

They are trying. Depends on the covid testing. I think the rule is you can play as long as you have five bodies.

@KentuckyMBB freshman Isaiah Jackson will declare for the Draft but maintain his eligibility, per release
We will probably have 3 or 4 do this too.

The last time we talked with Jamal, he seemed genuinely excited about being with Auburn basketball next year.
Something must have changed.

I don't think it's a big deal tbh.

Because he and his family missed out on a serious money making opportunity, and it’s not right. Believe it or not, these players have lives off the court.

Yeah it's fricking stupid. If he didn't play basketball but trademarked something that went viral when he was in high school he'd be able to profit while in college.

Are we playing our best basketball in March?
You know, I have to say that I think we are. We aren't hitting threes quite like we are capable, but Herb is healthy and is driving the basket well. Quinnerly has exploded into being one of the best players in the country. Shack is making high level shots both at the rim and from behind the arc. Ellis has emerged as a serious player. And Juwan Gary may be the X factor. Just going back and watching tourney replays one can see how big Juwan was in getting extra shots from offensive boards. That dude is a player that we have needed for inside presence.
How far can we go? I don't know. But in my opinion we are a team of good players who play well together, who play their system and most of all have a certain "it" factor when it comes to mental toughness and grit. They have been in close games. They have been down 15 in the second half of the tourney. They have had to grind through poor offensive performances, but they find a way to win.
Don't be shocked if we explode offensively in this tournament and go deep.
