Sources: The basketball oversight committee expected to recommend that the NCAA allow ALL transfers to get waiver to play this season. This would be proposed to the D-1 Council — which next meets on Dec. 16. There is a chance it could be voted on prior to the 16th.

Every three point basket during this the @MauiInv on @espn will generate $3,000 back to the college community of the player and team. Our goal is to get to 100 made. Back to local restaurants so they can feed those in need

We made 34 three's in the Maui tournament. That was good for a $102,000 donation.

Not sure how good Providence is but good win .

Still afraid teams are going to muscle us inside when we get to the SEC games. Killed down the strecth last year and I am not sure Bruner can stop it.

If we hit threes like we did tonight, we would win our share.

Primo seems to be developing. We need Ellis to be a factor.

#2 Baylor looks crazy good.

They play #1 Gonzaga on Saturday.

When you think about it... we would have been better off with Jared Butler over Kira. I would have loved to have seen Butler on THIS team.

Having said that, if he came here he would have probably caught Ebola. Seriously interested to see what the NBA docs say about him in the pre-draft process. Of course I’d hope he’s cleared, but it would also suck to know that we lost out on a stud like that simply because of a non-issue medical condition...

Overall a really good win but a few observations. The shot clock violation after the under 8 timeout is on the coaches. I equate that with pretty much coming out of a timeout in football and getting a delay of game. Completely inexcusable for both. Herb should NEVER run the point - that position demands someone that can handle the ball and he is below average in that department. Like everyone else Rojas should back off the 3 pointers but looks really good taking it to the rim. Great effort and a good win for later in the season.

I disagree. With a perfect roster he would never have to, but with the roster we have it is a necessary evil. Sometimes it’s ugly, sometimes it ends in disaster, but sometimes it works out just fine.

Nate Oats is a very good coach and it really feels like Alabama got it right. I think that was the best game we've played overall so far and this little tourney is going to help us to get our ducks in a row as the SEC nears. Please stop the Herb Jones PG madness, that ain't LeBron and then some. Those turnovers back to back could have gotten a better team going down the stretch and we were fortunate.

Overall, a big improvement from Stanford to Providence. I'm excited for the season to begin.

Yeah I don't have a huge problem with it. Herb commits some really dumb turnovers at times, but as far as a secondary ball handler goes he isn't the worst thing in the world. We will see more of that responsibility shift to Primo as the season progresses anyway.

we have issues if Herb is a secondary ball handler. We got too many kids on this team to make Herb a secondary ball handler.

Like who? There's no obvious backup PG on this roster, so it's basically going to be a group effort when JQ is in foul trouble or just needs a break.

I know this might be an obvious answer, but what would most on here take out of this tourney?

Winning game 1 and then losing 2 straight or losing game 1 and then winning 2 straight?

I know beating Stanford would have been a good tournament resume win, but it feels like Bama got much needed confidence from these last two games that they might not have gotten from having to face UNC and then Indiana.

We can give Ellis more minutes, but we don't have to. With Herb on the floor it gives the offense a different dynamic no matter what position he is playing. I'm glad that Rojas is not taking threes and Reese is only shot four last night

Go and take a look at the difference in minutes in those three games. Oates had to figure out who should be playing and the proper rotation. Unfortunately, JSU wasn't a game that he could really get a good feel because Bama is so much better than them, but he figured it out against Stanford.

Ellis is gonna be key to this team IMO. He plays great defense but he is also an elite shooter. For some reason he has been hesitant to shoot so far. But once he gets one to fall he will start raining them in

Im not so sure about his defense, but he does need to take a shot or two. He looks like he is quick, but on defense his man usually gets by consistently. But, I could be wrong because he hasnt played very much.
