I wouldn't say they sucked yesterday - they lost by 4 to a top 15 team. And they're currently down 3 to borderline Top 25 team.

We only need 4 people shooting 3s:

Primo
Petty

Allowing just 4 people to actually shoot threes is detrimental to the offense. There’s a reason why everyone is begging for players like Ben Simmons to shoot threes. It’s not that they think they’ll make them, but that even a 28% 3-pt shooter will be shown some level of attention beyond the arc.

As for Herb Jones, the dude has completely transformed his jump shot and it’s evident in his FTs and him being 2/5 from beyond the arc so far this season. I wouldn’t be shocked to see him end up with the 3rd highest 3pt% this year.

Lost by 4 to a top 15 team while shooting 25% from three on mostly open attempts. That’s what frustrated me, but it also tells me that this Stanford team is legit. Hanging with one of the better teams in the country while shooting 25% from deep is a testament to your team.

I’m much more concerned with defense and taking care of the ball than I am with our shot selection*

Although Rojas is testing that a bit.

Primo is also killing me. The dude comes in cold without any hesitation to pull the heat-check, stepback jumper. He needs to stick to catch and shoot for now. His stepback jumper is a push shot where the ball has zero rotation.

Be nice if Stanford could come back and win this game.

I want to see Primo get more minutes. He needs to be at 20+ mpg and our 2nd/3rd scoring option behind Petty/Shack sooner rather than later.

I can see his potential, but I’m hesitant to think he’s ready for that kind of reliance (2nd/3rd scoring option). He reminds me a lot of Retin Obasohan his Freshman year. Oozes potential, and you can see what he’ll inevitably become but it may take some time. I think Ellis will eventually be that guy off the bench for us. He’s been a little hesitant to pull, but not in a way where he seems timid. It seems like he just wants to be a team first guy. When he drives or cuts off-ball he has a plan and doesn’t force anything that isn’t there. Oats has already said he’s one of if not the best shooter in practices so the fact that he can dish and play lockdown D excites me.

Early season losses to teams that were supposed to be pretty good but end up falling apart soon thereafter are a longstanding Alabama basketball tradition like no other.

If Ellis turns out to be the guy over Primo, so be it, but it needs to be one of them and it needs to be sooner rather than later imo. Ideally we can both of them more involved offensively, because we know that we guys on the roster that can be hot and cold from game to game.

Even Shack has had a pretty poor start to the season from a shooting perspective. We are going to need Primo and Ellis to take more shots so that guys like Reese and Rojas are taking fewer.

Rojas has the 5th most FGA on the team so far and Reese is 6th. They should 8th and 9th in all honesty.

Reese has taken 16 shots this season. 14 of them have been threes. He's made two of them. Two. Get him the hell off the floor unless we have a 20+ point lead. The guy is a Senior and he's still an absolute sieve defensively and has only made 22 of his last 100 three point attempts (I went back and counted).

Looks like Stanford will go 1-2 in this tournament.

If we don't beat Providence, which is by no means a lock and i'm kind of surprised we are even favored tbh, then this Maui tournament will be about as disappointing as it could have been imo.

1. 17-9 - no explanation needed
2. On the bubble, but not really
3. Oh you need 2 wins in the conference tournament? Lol frick you, here's Kentucky in the second round
4. A graphic at the bottom of the screen explaining that it has been 6:42 since Alabama's last made FG
5. Losing in Rupp by 8 points and congratulating ourselves over the moral victory
6. Losing to one of the 3 worst teams in the conference in late February with an 18-10 record
7. Giving up 13/24 3pt shooting to a team that has made 28% on the season.
8. Making unathletic white forwards from average mid-major programs look like peak Larry Bird
9. Shooting <40% from inside of 2 feet over the course of an entire game

Y'all feel free to add
