I take it as a very positive sign he didn't commit to Marquette on his visit. Hopefully his mom wants him fairly close to home Have you been hearing that about Johnson or did someone on a pay site say it?

There was a nugget on it from BOL that he could be calling staff after the visit and committing and I got the call this morning, so I'm assuming he called staff either last night late or this morning and according to my source...Grant is JACKED about it

Great news if true man. He should be announcing publicly within the next two weeks

Yup it's crazy how Grant will go 0fer 1 year (technically he signed 1 player) then ball out the next (3 of the top in the South)

Well, we didn't have much room last year. Pollard was the main target all along and we got him. It would definitely help if we got this guy, but for a while it was looking like we'd have a monster year (frick you Gottfried).

If we get Johnson, this will be a very very good class. I'd go so far as to say I'd be ecstatic to land Johnson. Then it'd be the full court press on Martin and possible Williams. Lets hope for good news sometime soon!

We need to land a PG though. Juco or somewhere. We dont know if Retin is the guy or not. I hope he is though. `Have we had any practices yet?

Unfortunately, I think we will have to wait until 2014 for a PG unless someone has a breakout spring period. I do hope Retin can fill in and potentially be the PG of the future. He'll only be a freshman this year so he still has two more years to be groomed by Grant and Releford. And yes, practice started Friday afternoon. I don't know if we practiced yesterday or today though.

Here's a free article on Jalen Lindsey and Isaac Haas. I like what I've been seeing from Haas. Hopefully he'll follow in his dad's footsteps and come here if we've truly offered. LINK

Yea we might have to wait until next year but I just wish we couldve got someone this year. Saw after the couple of misses on PGs that we offered a instate guard for 2014. Hope that doesnt mean were done with this class.

Really hope the JJ commitment is true. Dave Telep said that of the prospects hes seen, JJ has the most Jeremy Lamb-like potential. Pure scoring ability, at all levels. As for the PG situation, Rysheed Jordan is our last target available and I'd be shocked if we actually landed him. I doubt we go after another, nor should we. There is no need to reach. If Retin or true freshman cant handle the job after Releford, Lacey/Randolph/JJ can fill in. Rather go with an out of position SG at PG, than someone like Eblen.

Ditto. A lot of Marquette guys are very confident and some even claim to have sources saying he was close to committing to them before the visit. One thing is for sure...one of us is going to be extremely butt-hurt after this one.

Asked one of the main bloggers for Marquette basketball what he had heard since his source told him JJ was close to committing to them before the visit and he said he had only heard that he indeed did not commit before leaving.

Maybe I'm reaching for some good news here but...

From Daniel Williams, a former Basketball manager: "@Dwill_NwM: Big news coming soon. Stay tuned!!!"

Nothing really important, just that a decision will come in 7-10 days.

Nothing on a confidence level in regard to who he'll pick? Dang

If he picks Marquette this class will have gone from potential top 5 to scrambling for a couple of warm bodies with the quickness. Such is basketball recruiting at a football school.

Poop. Did the 7-10 days come from Johnson, or is that just what they think?
