re: Alabama Basketball - Stat Leaders since 2008
I have a fair amount of questions, but strangely the thing that jumped out the most to me was Shannon Hale's usage rate. 25%? For his career?

Other observations:

1) Bola's rebounding was just insane.
2) The Riley stuff seems high, although his traditional stats were a bit better than I remembered them being.
3) That assist to turnover list is pretty dire. Feels like we should have somebody break the 2-1 mark.

Bart might want to reassess his algorithm if the result is Shannon Hale being anything more than the worst defensive player in the history of SEC basketball.

Dude - me too. Of everything that was the thing that made go WTF? But, that one season with Avery we had so few weapons that he was heavily involved on almost every possession - for good or bad. And then after that he didn't really play a ton and then left.

He was our 3rd worst defender of the last 12 years only in front of some real lazy asses/short guys, so pretty bad.

However, it does tell me if your Defensive BPM is negative you quite literally don't try.

Same - I did note that some of these guys who played before 2008 only have 2008 included. So it's just Riley's last year, in which he had a really good offensive season on a shitty team

Shannon Hale's usage rate makes me want to punch something.

ETA: didn't see all the comments above until now, but it is hilarious that we all read the same set of data and everyone's first reaction was "Shannon Hale usage wtf".

The talent to record ratio of the 2007 and 2008 teams are absolutely pitiful

Problem with those teams was (1) Gottfried just rolled the balls out but (2) the depth was bad and not developed at all. Our front line guys were good offensive players with 1 or 2 also being good defenders, but past that it was a hodge podge of semi-talented dudes who weren't put in any sort of position to succeed.
