The whole staff needs to go. No way making it to Omaha is acceptable. If Vaughn doesn't win it all next year, send him packing and get someone who can. This pitching coach who got us to Omaha is terrible. Dude needs to learn how to win it all.

LTL just discovered sarcasm because he has been spamming it for like 4 days straight

Vaughn needs to make a tough move and get rid of Pappio. You can be happy with making it to Omaha, while also recognizing staff changes need to be in order to move forward. Our at bats this year are high schoolish.
He’s been around Rob for the last 13 years. He ain’t going anywhere, nor should he.

Troy looks so much more competitive than we do. Next game is likely their last, but they've been competitive the entire time.
Bama has gone down faster than a $5 crack whore.

Might need to make sure he doesn’t have a carbon monoxide leak while sleeping in his Jaguar.

Troy lost to WVU and came back to beat an Ole Miss team that we took 2/3 from pretty comfortably.
They would not have done any better than us on our side of the bracket.
That said they have some DUDES I would have loved playing for us this year.

I think Fay and Adams had the stomach bug, because they were both throwing up.

They lost to WV at the very end...beat Ole Miss...have fought the entire time.
Bama has not even looked remotely competitive at any point after the first pitch in Omaha.

I don’t know how else to put this but
OU > WVU
TEXAS >>> Ole Miss

Yes, they're better teams.
But Bama has been so far from competitive in Omaha it probably wouldn't have mattered.

Welcome to baseball. The game is a game of ebb and flows in which a team can go on a streak where they can do no wrong, then, without warning, look like they've never seen a baseball. I have no idea why they haven't looked competitive but they no doubt deserve to be there because they won their way there. They just picked the worst time to hit a down streak. Again, it's baseball.

I just started watching so we give up 7 runs in the first two innings. Is our Sat. starter this bad. And our friday starter didnt look much better.

We were down 3-1 with multiple 1-2 counts and could not get off the field.
We definitely left him out a couple batters too long.

We essentially have 3 really good Sunday pitchers. Nobody has electric velo or a real out pitch. They aren't chopped liver but we don't have a legit ace that can consistently navigate elite lineups.
Upchurch is our best freshman pitcher since Preilipp though, and could definitely turn into that guy.
The pitching has been good enough all season though. The hitting has been atrocious

Ahhh I’m going to have to put Fay in the category of “good” Friday night guy and Adams in the category of “very good” Saturday guy.
Fay bumped 96 MPH pretty consistently throughout the year. It ain’t 100 but it’s definitely in the “electric” category with a lot of movement. He could not get the ball “down” Saturday and OU ate him alive.
I agree with the rest of your post.

I reckon it's time to flip over and watch Mo Salah. He's been a constant source of sporting joy over the last decade for me

At least we get to see what really good teams look like. I’m glad we made it, good experience for the kids. Now they have something to try and emulate.
But yeah arse kickings

So, the strength of our team all year has been pitching and now that has failed. Better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all but it is a sad day when Troy is still alive and Bama is heading home. Maybe a late miracle can still happen today.
Do we fire the coaches before or after they board the plane?

I think it was a very good season and given the roster relative to the elite teams we were pretty lucky to make it to Omaha.
Enjoy it for what it was is rather than get upset about what it wasn’t is my advice.
