Why would anybody get a pass for recruiting subpar talent out of the portal?
We need to do better all around there.
I don’t think anybody is holding JJ’s feet to the fire because our freshmen pitchers aren’t ready for SEC ball yet.
We have to get better arms out of the portal than Alcock, Finateri, Buchanan, Moza, etc.

I have not kept up with other leagues closely, but I think your suppositions are probably correct.

Well he gets no credit for developing the best closer in baseball because he is first year, so, it is fair that also not be held accountable for the flops.
As to evaluating and getting the best talent, three teams have paid to take our better players over the last few years. LSU paid to get the hottest hitter in the country a couple of years ago and the most dominant pitcher out there. Let’s not pretend that all things are equal.

We’re not talking about needing world beaters with every pick out of the portal but if they can complete a couple innings every once in a while without allowing 3 runs that would be fantastic.

Better question is why is Auburn hosting over us?

We should have been with at least one win in Hoover. Every top 16 RPI team is hosting except us. Southern Miss being picked ahead of us is absolute bullshite. Our resume is better and we beat them head to head this season.

We’ve been getting the very obvious screw job on hosting and seeding for years. Remember a couple years ago when we got the 16 and Auburn got like the 11 when we had head to head and RPI over them but their AD was on the committee?
