There never should have been a defensive possession there. Oats was holding his hand and screaming for 1 shot immediately after the rebound. Even with a running clock after the made shot they had time to inbounds the ball and go all the way down the floor - that should never, ever happen in a 1 shot situation

I think most 'Bama fans were done with him after the '23 USF game.

In fairness we had a freshman forward running the point in isolation mode and he was getting antsy with the little guy harrassing him out at the top

True, and hoping it’s a teaching moment, but that situation is exactly why underclassmen rarely perform well all the way through the NCAAT. The moments just get too big for them.

Situational awareness mistakes are just so frustrating. These guys have been playing basketball for 10+ years now. 1 shot at the end of the 1st half is a very common occurrence in all levels of basketball that use shot clocks. It’s just not that hard
