They typically start seasons with really strong QB play, but at about the midpoint of the season it's like they hit a wall - out of nowhere they start taking forever to find receivers, missing easy throws that they had been making, and just generally looking like a completely different player. It happened with Milroe, it happened with Simpson, and now it's happening with Russell. And if you'll recall, it happened at Washington with Penix too - they went through a stretch n his DeBoer's last year where they were barely scoring and had to beat teams with defense. What gives? Any ideas on what is going on?

Simpson didn’t take forever to find guys at all. Simpson had a back injury and the occasional odd cadence throw.

Milroe was already a very inconsistent player before DeBoer got here.

The others, they do have one thing in common....... Grubb was calling plays. The guy was also run out of Seattle for being an awful playcaller. Seems like a pattern with this guy........

He certainly looked like a different player from the Missouri game on. Maybe it was because of an injury in his case, but that still doesn't explain the overall pattern.

The problem is they don’t adjust week to week. If their approach isn’t working then it’s a long day. The passing offense is actually sort of limiting because it is so predicated on vertical press that requires time in the pocket that may not always be available. They don’t have an identity that can commit to the run. If it is not popping off, they will abandon and start throwing 75% of the time.

Simpson carved up OU like three weeks after Missouri and we know he had a back injury+other issues from his own words + sideline video.

This just seems like reaching. Milroe was who he was and who he still is in the NFL. Russell is a very green QB and it shows.

Meh, Russell will improve but it will take some time.

We could very well see a number of 3 loss teams in the playoffs this year. Literally no one is great at all.

Don't know why someone would down vote you on this. It is spot on.

Kirby exposed Milroe, Ty and now Keelon weaknesses. None were able to adjust afterward.

What made me feel Keelon would be the first to overcome this was how quickly he was adapting, seemingly growing and learning in real time during our games.

Keelon disappointed like the other two though. People already are making excuses about injury, etc.. but the reality is he doesn't deal well with post-snap adjustments, has a tendency to want to hold on to the ball looking for hovering (as taught by Grubb) and they learned when he feels pressure his accuracy goes to shite because he speeds up his feet and throws away all his mechanics.

I hate playing Kirby mid-season because of that. It's always him doing us in.

Last year we saw him key in on Ty not throwing deep and the year before on Milroe not being able to make the short to intermediate passes.

That's part of it, but when Bryce and Mac were playing they didn't have these dropoffs after 5 games. Not in every single passing category.

You know what covers a QB's weaknesses? And what makes winning on the road a lot easier? And what helps develop a tougher, more physical team identity? A strong run game that you are committed to, which we definitely won't have as long as Grubb is calling the plays and probably won't have as long as DeBoer is here. We didn't have a RB touch the ball, on the road, until our 3rd possession yesterday. It's inexcusable. I just don't see how y'all want to blame the QBs for not just figuring shite out and playing better when we have the exact same gameplan every single week no matter how many times that plan fails or why it fails.
