I dislike Kamala but Trump really screwed the pooch picking Vance over Burgum from a political angle

Vance's leftist media interview blitz, and the VP debate, proved this to be false. Home run selection by Trump.

I’m sure he has no idea how the economy works though, especially if you listen to MSNBC every day.

I didn't say he's doesn't know how the economy works. And i don't listen to MSNBC.

"I am going to put tariffs on other countries coming into our country, and that has nothing to do with taxes to us. That is a tax on another country." - Donald Trump

“it’s not going to be a cost to you, it’s going to be a cost to another country.”- Also Donald Trump

Other countries don't pay tariffs. American businesses that buy their products do. And then they increase their prices to compensate and American consumers suffer those increased prices. So no, based on his actual statements he doesn't seem to understand who pays those increased tariffs.

I’ll never understand why people who don’t like a particular conversation can’t just mind their own business and shut up if they don’t like the topic. What is this obsession with eliminating conversations you don’t want to be part of? This thread has generated more traffic than anything football related this week, but because one person would “rather keep politics off he board” no one gets to talk about it? That’s so stupid.

The way this worked in Trump's first term:

Companies went back to making things in the USA, people had more disposable income, the slight increase in cost went unnoticed by most.

Those are the people who don't want to be confronted by their own beliefs. Makes them weak.

Stand by what you believe and defend it.

That isn’t how it works. The tariffs equal the playing field with American made goods, and coupled with lower corporate tax rates and tax cuts on business leads to an increase in American manufacturing and jobs. I’m in favor of that.

In an ideal world where a company is willing to cut ties with their current supplier to find an American company that makes the same supplies. In reality many companies stick with their foreign suppliers and simply cut their work force, costing American jobs, and increase their prices.

Again, this is not what happened during Trump's first term.

Except it is, 2020 finished with the highest trade deficit since 2020 and prior to COVID there had been an increase in 250K jobs being sent offshore.

I don’t think it’s fair to compare Trumps final figures with the inclusion of COVID (I.e. his unemployment rate at the end of his tenure or the deficit which was largely impacted by COVID spending), but the tariffs did not “bring jobs home” because it’s still cheaper to employ in foreign territories.

Most of the inflation issues are not a Biden or Trump issue. It’s the impact of fiscal policy that was necessary in the wake of COVID lockdowns and the ensuing supply chain issue, as well as Quantiative Easing (I.e. inflation drivers). Saying “Trump didn’t have it” is missing the whole part where Trump was in the post recovery phase of the free money era (I.e. record low rates) and tapped out before COVID policies had their effect

Republicans are 50% of the problem. We need a conservative party. Big difference.

Welp, looks like y'all sacrificed any shot at a national championship for Bama football and basketball this year.

Well done, well done.
