247 - Najee Harris return for Senior year

quote:

Alabama will have its leading rusher for one more season.

Junior running back Najee Harris will pass on the 2020 NFL Draft and return to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for his senior year, a source close to the program confirmed to BamaOnLine. Harris is not expected to make an announcement on social media like his Crimson Tide teammates.

The Antioch, Calif., native has been back in Tuscaloosa since this past weekend.

If he can somehow work on his speed, he’ll move up a bunch

Nice. Not looking forward to playing him in Tuscaloosa next year.

I’m sitting 15 feet away from the man at the Wendy’s in the ferg. I know it’s a CSB but I ran to the board and here it is confirmed.

If he were a step faster in would be the Bama Hall of Fame but if he were a step slower he would be in the Million Dollar Band

Sounds like Najee. The other day I was joking about him just showing up back in Tuscaloosa or at the combine, but that really is kind of how the dude operates. Letting random people know about his life plans doesn't seem to be on his agenda.

Watching the way he runs, he needs to find a guru to completely break his stride down to nothing and rebuild it from scratch - in one offseason. Gotta get higher knees and a more forward lean.

The chances of him completely changing (or wanting to change) his body mechanics is low, if not zero, but best of luck to the kid. He's a gamer so maybe.

I don't normally look at or care about up or downvotes, but to the 8 folks who downvoted my last post: are you saying the solution to Najee's lack of a top gear is to just 'move his legs faster'? Just 'try harder to be fast'?

Ridiculous.

There likely isn't a solution.

He's a bell cow and is a huge threat out of the backfield. Huge news.

Perhaps, but any running expert would quickly tell you that Najee's running motion is unorthodox and could be improved. Mechanics matter, just like the throwing motion for a QB. You just have to balance the pros and cons of tinkering.

Me personally, I think he's plenty fast to be effective in the NFL. Quickness is space and change of direction is much more important than straight line speed.

Hilarious how the insiders told us Najee was 100% gone, and Tua was coming back. Never fails

Gives Mac a huge weapon out of the backfield. I fully expect Trey Sanders to split the reps with Najee 50/50 though

No, they told you that they WERE HEARING that Najee was gone and Tua was coming back. Very different.

FYI, these sentiments were echoed by both regional and national pundits, most of whom had heard the exact same rumblings from inside the program.

Some folks just want to bitch...

I don't agree, especially about Boz. His info has been too solid for too long. Where it comes from, I don't care. But I appreciate Boz's info and I hope he brings it back.

Maybe I can convince him to start a private email group or host a private dropbox or password-protected google drive folder with periodic info.
