So help me if we try to cheap out ima lose it. The money can go so much farther in basketball than football.

welp, prolly means Aden won't play another minute of organized basketball...ever.

Legally speaking, this doesn’t change much. The evidence was there so the preliminary court date was pointless. If anything this just speeds up the process of what is hopefully and likely a plea deal.

My only concern is we move to 12 or close to it but the market moves to 15 or 16

Im with you, it's going to suck... But I still go back to the fact that if these rosters are going to cost 12-15 mill, you have to have honest conversations with dead weight at the end of the year and tell them to move on. It's not popular to talk about, but you can't be in the business of developing projects anymore that come with a hefty price tag. Im all for buying a developed project, but paying for the development of a project player over the course of a few years and then to have them turn around and sell themselves to the highest bidder... no way.

Alabama guard Aden Holloway's ban from UA campus was lifted today, his attorney told ESPN.

His attorney also said that he hopes to enroll in classes this fall and re-join the Alabama team next season, pending the outcome of his case.

That’s honestly great news. It would be easy and even understandable for Aden to try to get away from a place where a bad thing happened.

It shows a lot of maturity and loyalty to stick with a coach, team, and fans that still care about you through it.

It was so sad to see him get into trouble for something like Weed. Don’t know if he was selling; that would certainly be bad, but if it was for personal use it is something as common as beer today on college campuses . Hope Aden is back and learns to lay off the pot at least during the season.

I agree. The silver lining of all of this is maybe we get an evolved Aden that hyper focuses on basketball. He’s already the best shooter that we’ve ever had and his defense got a lot better in year two with us. It’ll be his show at point next year so he could do a lot of great things.

I agree too. I loved his game and his passion. He always seem to try hard except during his last two or three games , he just seemed a little off. Distracted maybe?
Definitely want him back.

Lol. This is how he announces he's been divorced for 3 years? Holy shite. I heard the rumors but it's this the first time he's publicly said it?

I don’t really think he felt the need to announce it. Nor should he. It was there for anyone who felt like digging.

But now that he’s engaged and will be getting married and is comfortable with where that relationship is then you can’t really tell stories about your fiancé without acknowledging that the divorce happened.

No doubt. I'm glad they seem to have kept things civil at a minimum. I'm impressed it stayed as quiet as it did.

But I'm even more amazed the new girlfriend stayed so quiet. I did about 2 minutes of research, and holy shite, the jacket's aren't the only thing reminiscent of Wimp. She's the director of basketball operations at Bama.

Here's her bio...

quote:

Alex Accetta is in her fifth year as a member of the Alabama men’s basketball full-time staff and enters her first season as the director of operations. She was promoted into her new role following the 2020-21 season after spending the previous four years as the program’s operations coordinator.

Accetta is one of six women in the Southeastern Conference who currently serves in a coach or support staff role, one of 22 across the top six leagues in collegiate basketball (ACC, Big 12, Big East, Big Ten, Pac-12, SEC) and one of fewer than 50 women in the nation who are a member of a Division I men’s basketball staff.

In her current role, Accetta assists with a multitude of projects throughout the year, including oversight of the men’s basketball budget, managers and graduate assistant managers, as well as the day-to-day schedules for both the team and head coach Nate Oats. In addition, she handles all team travel logistics and coordination as well as ticket coordination for the program. Accetta also serves as the oversight for all men’s basketball off-court events such as Pro Day, Parents Weekend, Alabama basketball camps and guest speakers.

Accetta was promoted into her current role after having served four years (2017-21) as the operation coordinator for the program. Among her duties while in that position were to assist the then-director of operations with team travel and logistics, assist with ticket requests for recruiting, high school coaches, and program ticket requests and helped coordinate on-campus visits, among other duties. Prior to that, she worked as a student assistant in the men’s basketball office from 2015-17.

Accetta comes from a basketball background, as she spent three years (2010-13) working closely with Hall of Famer Nancy Lieberman, who was the head coach and assistant general manager with the Texas Legends of the NBA G-League.

Accetta, a native of Dallas, earned her degree in business management from UA and graduated in May of 2017.

She started working with a G league coach in high school, started as a student assistant in the basketball office in 2015, was right hand to the operations director for 4 years after graduating in 17, and became the director in 2020.

It sounds like this woman fricking loves basketball. And she started volunteering for the basketball program back in the end of Grant/beginning of Avery era. And she's been with the department for 11 years. This chick is absolutely Gump as frick. Nate found love in a early 30s basketgump. No wonder he doesn't want to go anywhere else.

Yeah I mentioned somewhere else I bet a big reason Oats loves being at Alabama is because it’s not like a Kentucky or North Carolina where he has no privacy. We love him as our coach but we let him live his life
