TIFWIW but RBR said Concepcion left Tuscaloosa without a firm offer from the coaching staff.

Hopefully that means they are focusing on Isaiah Horton.

We should have a solid WR group regardless. I can’t blame any big name receiver in the portal passing up on Bama because I think Williams and Bernard have WR1 and WR2 locked. I believe Hale and Scott will be solid at slot with Mbakwe having a role. We need someone for depth, but I’m not sure we can pull a former starter out of the portal for WR3 or WR4.

Are we sure Hale will be fully healthy for spring training ? We need another guy in case he’s not ready to go just yet.

I believe we need 1 starter grade WR out of the portal and maybe one guy for depth.
I disagree with the idea that we are "fine" at WR. You can't say that when that hinges on two guys coming off major injuries being 100% physically and sharp technically. Hale, Adams, Scott, and Mbakwe sounds fine on paper but that is a lot of inexperience and injury history you're rolling with in 2025. Especially since Alabama's offense suffered with a lack of quality depth at receiver this Fall.
Horton looks like he'd be a great pickup for this scheme. He's a productive tall receiver and that is something this WR room lacks right now and would only be adding Meadows in that body type via HS recruiting. Meadows is not necessarily seen as a day 1 contributor like Ryan Williams too.
DeBoer wants tall receivers to help the downfield 1 on 1 matchups not always require blow aways or exceptional body control by the receiver to be effective. We do not have that right now and I think we need it to really make this offense work to its potential even if the QB is an effective passer.

NO one in our portal is worth that kind of money. People not in the portal are worth that kind of money but it would be tampering by LSU if they reached out to these people. And if it truly happened Coach should turn them in to Sankey
Maybe LSU were the ones trying to get Mbakwe instead of (or in addition to) Ole Miss.

Look at the 2022 receiving corp for a good example of that. Holden, Brooks, Prentice, and Bond were all shifted out as being sub par. Holden has been great at Oregon, Brooks is going to be drafted after a 1K season at Louisville, Bond is a solid WR3 in Texas’ loaded corps
The fact Ryan Williams was basically Burton 2.0 and dependent on Milroe’s deep ball for production is a pretty heavy sign that we’ve been holding our receivers back due to our quarterback more than lacking depth

Can’t believe he would be happier in that offense

He's been solid at Oregon, about the same as he was at Bama. Milroe was also never his QB.

Brooks showed flashes of being really good in 2021, and 2022, but his problem in 2023 wasn't Milroe.

Bond had about the same production as he did last season.
But to your point, clearly having a more consistent QB who can find open guys, and throw guys open will be much more ideal for WR production.

Not so fast on Payne to Mich?
Payne and Michigan have gone their separate ways. Payne remains in the transfer portal

Add in another depth guy from the portal, and that looks like a solid room to me. If either Odom or Henderson had stuck around, it would be even better.

I think Horton would be a starter with Williams and Bernard. Whatever we get from Adams and Hale is icing on the cake. I suspect they will be good players if they’re 100%. Scott, Meadows, and anyone else is depth.
At least I think that is the scenario the staff is hoping for in 2025. You’d love to have 5 guys you can expect production out of in your main rotation.
