2023 UGA - How do they compare to the many other good teams we’ve played?

Even though the season is not over yet, how does the 2023 Georgia team compare our past great/really good opponents? Top 10? Not even top 15?

Best comparison might honestly be some dynasty teams with a relatively stronger offense and weaker defense. 2013 comes to mind
Another decent one is 2012 Georgia. However their run defense this year, while still a bit of a weakness, is much better than it was back then

I guess that depends on what opponents you're referencing. This team isn't near the level of our 2021/2022 teams, IMO. The offense is putting up stellar numbers but it was a bit clunky early on. The defense is as bad as it's been since 2020. This team isn't nearly the level of a 2016/2018 clemson, 2019 lsu, or some of the other elite teams that bama has gone up against lately.

Make no mistake, this is a really good UGA team capable of beating Bama by double digits if Bama doesn't play well or turns the ball over a lot.
To me, the key is stopping or limiting the UGA ground game and getting pressure on Beck. So far, no opponent has been able to consistently get any pressure. In fact, most of the time, Beck has time to eat a sandwich back there. I think Bama can and will get pressure. It'll be very telling/interesting to see how Beck responds after taking a lick or two.
LSU is a better team offensively but I think a lot of that was Jaden Daniels being so dangerous. Beck is nowhere near as dangerous.
Defensively, they're the best defense Bama will have faced other than maybe Texas.

I believe the same is true is the coin were to be flipped.

Their ground game is starting to get rolling with their backs getting healthy. Still, as usual, you have to stop the run and make them one dimensional.
Then you have to sell out to neutralize Bowers and McKonkey and dont give Beck enough time to get to his third option - get pressure, hopefully with just 4 rushing and occasionally 5.
The defenisve staff has to step up and figure Bowers out bc Georgia does a great job of moving him/hiding him so it’s not one guy on defense that can step up and shut him down. It is absolutely crazy how many times he is running wide arse open. I know he is good and a good route runner but a lot of that is a credit to their offensive staff creating space for him with formation and movement. Steele and Saban have to figure out how to counteract that.

UGA is very good.
I read somewhere that Carson Beck's first time getting touched by an Ole Miss player was during the post game handshake.
Bama has got to make him uncomfortable. I think if that happens he'll struggle. He hasn't been tested by a ferocious defense. Maybe he folds.

I bet you didn't see it in 2021 either.
I respect your opinion though. UGA has a good team, I see it being a great game. I just think that this team is very hungry.

Not sure anybody really knows. I think they've shown their A game is extremely high level, though.
Not sure we really know what our team looks like playing their best against another really good team, either.
Should be an interesting game.

We are suspect at stopping the outside run and Milroe’s ability to take off makes me nervous. We’ve started to use a LB at the star position to help with that. Should be a great game though.

Kirby imo is a better HC then he was as a DC and he was a great DC. He’s a great motivator and will have Uga ready to play.
Bowers is probably the best football player in the country when he’s 100%. The only way to slow him down is to bracket him low and high
Beck has matured into great pocket passer, he’s not fast or fleet of foot but he’s poised in the pocket. The opportunity is there for pressure and sacks if Bama can dial in the pressure, especially up the middle.
Can go on and on but it’s the same ole same ole between these two in a game like this. Gut check time and who wants it more. Here’s to a hard fought game and let’s hope no bad injuries happen.
