DeVonta Smith, in today's scrimmage
Posted on 8/17/19 at 10:16 pm to TidalSurge1
Devonta very under appreciated. Why? Can someone do an evaluation?
Can run,catch jump,routes,decent size,clutch. So what's up?

Alabama Crimson Tide football live call-in show with Kyle Henderson of BamaInsider
1:29:44 although the 1st 29:31 is a static screen with a counter... it's an hour long show that doesn't start until the 29:31 mark.
Apparently Kyle is trying to start a web based call in show. Once season starts he mentioned it would be on Sunday nights. Had issues with the caller (not sure how many if any more than 1) Try it or not, just thought I would make the availability know to this board
Learned he graduated from New Mexico State...he can't wait for the home opener... LOL. It may turn out to be something or Not. But if you like calling in and hearing yourself.. has to be easier (and far better than calling PAWWWWL. Can't wait for Jim From Tuscaloosa to call in and Quit the show)

Coach Saban Press Conference
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Alabama Crimson Tide held its second scrimmage of the fall on Saturday afternoon at Bryant-Denny Stadium. The workout lasted roughly 140 plays and just under two hours on a hot, sunny Saturday afternoon in Tuscaloosa.
The scrimmage was Alabama's second and final of the fall in preparation for its season-opening contest with Duke in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Ga., on Saturday, Aug. 31. The matchup between the Crimson Tide and Blue Devils is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. CT on ABC.
The team will be off this Sunday before getting back to work on Monday.
Nick Saban Post-Scrimmage
Opening Statement:
"The thing I asked the players after the last scrimmage and challenged them to do was, 'How much will you improve from the last scrimmage to this scrimmage?' That's going to happen by what you invest and what you commit to doing every day in practice, so you're focused on what's happening right now so that you can make that improvement. I would say we had a significant amount of guys that made strides and were better in this game, a lot less anxiety, especially for the young players, but not where we want to be.
"I think we're still not tackling well on defense. We had too many missed tackles, too many guys breaking down. (We were) not aggressive enough. Not enough cleanup. We gave up a few too many big plays on offense. Last week, we were really good in terms of turnovers and taking care of the ball. Today, we had the ball on the ground more than we'd like, threw a couple picks – which we've got to not do – so we've got to do a better job of taking care of the ball. When you're playing against each other, if this guy is doing good, and that guy playing against him, who is still on your team, may not be doing so good, so it really is hard to evaluate the overall consistency of performance until you watch the film."

I’ve been behind the whole off-season, is Kaho still on the team? How is he doing in fall camp?
Posted on 8/18/19 at 10:42 am to The Silverback
Ale Kaho is still on the team and having a pretty good fall camp. So far it looks like he probably won't be starting at ILB, but could get some playing time there.

If the staff stays cool on him, I could see Cristobal snatching him up from under Washington's nose.

Anyone still feel we missed out on signing Nakobe Dean?
Posted on 8/18/19 at 2:58 pm to Shaft Williams
What are you getting at with this? Is there something about Dean I missed or are you saying we’re ok because Harris has been doing so well?
Posted on 8/18/19 at 3:47 pm to Shaft Williams
Of course. We need ILB. Dean and to’oto’o would have been welcome additions.

Going to get it printed and framed

I really like Lee and Harris A LOT and I think they may prove to be just as good if not better than Dean. But no doubt it would've been nice to also get one of Dean or To'oto'o. However, if Kaho pans out to his full potential, missing on those two won't really matter much, imo.

Five-star LB has Alabama in top six (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama made the second top schools cut for five-star outside linebacker Sav'ell Smalls on Sunday, the Burien (Wash.) Kennedy Catholic product announced on Twitter.
Joining the Crimson Tide are Florida State, Oregon, Tennessee, Washington, and Washington State. Another interesting note: Smalls actually dropped the Huskies from contention earlier this year. It appears as though UW stayed in the mix, however, making the cut on Sunday.
Smalls hasn't visited Tuscaloosa since June of 2018 for the Champions Cookout. He told BamaOnLine earlier this spring he wanted to get on campus in June, but was never able to make it out. When he did travel to the Southeast at the end of July, the five-star 'backer only visited Florida State and Tennessee.
For a recruit like Smalls, in-person relationship building is a critical factor in his decision-making process. “Next time I visit, how everything goes and how comfortable I feel is really going to be big for me with my recruitment with them,” he told BOL earlier this spring. Former defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi recruited Smalls for the Tide. In the wake of Lupoi's departure, new OC Steve Sarkisian took over.

Smalls has been intrigued by Bama for much of his recruitment, even trending to the Tide at one point in time. He's been looking forward to seeing what the Tide does this season coming off their national championship game loss.
“Even though they lost, Bama is still Bama,” he said. “It’s not the first time they’ve lost a national championship game. As we’ve seen in previous years, they lose and come back with vengeance. They come back and handle business. It’ll be interesting to see how they handle this upcoming season and what they’re going to do. That (2019) class is ridiculous and 2020 is already No. 2 or No. 3 in the nation.”
At 6-foot-3, 230 pounds, Smalls is rated the No. 1 outside linebacker and No. 9 overall player in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Alabama still leads the 247Sports Crystal Ball as it stands with 43 percent of the predictions.
Here's 247Sports' evaluation of the West Coast talent:
Size indicates he can play both as a hybrid edge rusher with his hand down or as a standup rush end. Terrific instincts. Quickly reads and reacts. Outstanding pass rusher who can also drop into coverage on occasion. Cat quick at the line of scrimmage, with a quick first step. Can chase down backs and end the play. Has shown improved technique. Uses his hands extremely well. Played a lot of linebacker in 7v7 in offseason to work on pass coverage. Also plays tight end and receiver and has natural pass-catching ability. Projects as immediate Power 5 starter and projects as first-round NFL Draft choice.
