Scheduled Commits: 2020 | 2021 (247Sports)

Top targets expected to commit by August 31:

4-star DL Jaquelin Roy 6-3.5/289 LA hudl
-- Announcing July 26, 7-pm to UA, LSU or ATM.

4-star S/CB Xavion Alford 6-0.5/188 TX hudl
-- "Coach Saban, every time I go up there, he makes it clear that he really wants me... It could be today, tomorrow, a month from now, it could be real soon.” Attending July 27 Cookout.

4-star CB Nadab Joseph 6-2/180 Juco hudl
-- Hank recently said he thinks Nadab Joseph or Xavion Alford could pop next.

2021 4-star QB Jalen Milroe 6-1.5/194 TX hudl
-- Before 2019 FB season begins. After camping at UA in June, Milroe named Bama his leader. He moved up his commit timeframe and was CBd to Bama by by Hank (BOL) and a Texas mod on July 12 and OM mod on July 13. Since QB Drake Maye's July 17th commitment to Bama, the buzz is that he's more likely to commit elsewhere, pehaps by the end of July. ETA: Announced commitment to Texas Sunday night, July 21.

5-star RB Kendall Milton 6-2/220 CA hudl *
-- Announcing July 29, 7-pm; apparently to UGA.

4-star WR EJ Williams 6-3.5/192 AL hudl *
-- Announcing August 24 at 5-pm, his father's birthday. At The Opening Finals on June 30, he said Bama is #1 and Clemson #2. But the concensus among 247 analysts is that he's still trending to Clemson. He camped at Clemson in June and said he plans to attend their "All In" big recruiting event the last weekend in July.

5-star RB Zachary Evans 5-11/200 TX hudl
-- Has said he may commit before FB season, but has also said he'll take as long as he needs to be sure of his decision.

Top targets scheduled to commit after August:

4-star DB/WR Joel Williams 6-1.5/180 LA hudl
-- Announcing September 9 at 6-pm.

4* OLB/TE Reggie Grimes 6-4.5/240 TN hudl
-- Announcing November 2.

4-star ILB Jordan Banks 6-1/228 CA hudl
-- Late November, per June Champions Cookout post-visit article (BOL-VIP).

4-star DT Jacobian Guillory 6-2/331 LA hudl *
-- Announcing December 20.

4-star DT McKinnley Jackson 6-2/327 MS hudl
-- Announcing February 5.

Would Harris play ILB or are you just saying at this time they would take him as an OLB over Sampah at ILB?

I suspect Bama's staff may think Braswell and Anderson project well at ILB, in addition to OLB (see next two posts). If so, that could justify taking another OLB like Donell Harris. Bama has concerns about Sampah's sideline-to-sideline pursuit speed. If he shows improvement in that this season, Bama might circle back for him.

ETA: Added 3rd post below on Phillip Webb, another target who Bama's staff may think projects well at both ILB and OLB.

ETA: Update post -July 22

5-star LB Chris Braswell 6-3/220 MD hudl
quote:

Evaluation (247Sports)

Length beyond 6-foot-3 frame. Carries 220 pounds like it is 200. Defensive end or outside linebacker ability. Ridiculously quick off snap. High-caliber athlete. Agile and smart. Athletic and long. Lower body flexibility to dip shoulder to gain edge. Plus change of direction. Speed to chase plays backside. Gets upfield and into backfield in three steps. Strong lower body. Good hand speed. Can drop into coverage. Has developed arsenal of moves. Needs to work on move combinations. Adding upper body strength important. Impact player at elite college program. First-round NFL draft potential.

4-star LB Will Anderson 6-3/233 GA hudl
quote:

Evaluation (247Sports)

Lighter, undersized defensive end built more in the mold of a linebacker. Compensates for size with rare pass-rush instincts and traits. Shows basketball open court quickness in space as a pass rusher. Can extend his arms and control offensive linemen. Plays bigger than his size. Has a nasty inside rip move. Eats up grass quickly in space. Shows first-step quickness you want out of an undersized pass rusher. Will need to show the ability to anchor against runs at him. Has some frame limitations. Has some bust potential due to size but also has upside to be an early round draft pick due to pass rush traits.

Another target who Bama's staff may think projects well at both ILB and OLB:

4-star LB Phillip Webb 6-3.5/224 GA hudl
quote:

Evaluation (247Sports)

Long athlete that is still relatively underdeveloped physically and has growth potential. Plays in a stand-up pass-rush role where he screams off the edge in high school. Shows outstanding game speed. Closes quickly in the backfield. Can change direction in space effectively. More physical than you think and strong enough to disregard chip blocks and running back one-on-one pass-rush situations. Has some instincts to bat down passes. Doesn’t show a lot of versatility on tape. Needs to add weight and show he can do more than sprint off the edge. Impact power five starter with potential to develop into a mid to early round NFL Draft pick.

Question on Omari Porter out of Auburn, AL (Auburn HS). No SEC offers, but I see he committed to Stanford. Has anyone seen him play?

But David Shaw said there was maybe three people in the state that could qualify for Stanford.

Yep, he gone.

After Maye committed, the buzz on Milroe was that he'd quickly commit elsewhere, most likely to Texas.

This is silly man. Just because he doesn't come to Alabama doesn't mean he's scared to compete.

Maybe, and I’m just spitballing here, he wants to stay home or Saban only wants to take 1 QB.

You may be right.

Either way, we got the better of the two.

We're taking two QBs next year.

If we get Young in this class, maybe not?

Between Lia, Tyson, Mac Jones, Young and Maye...is there really a need for another QB? We gonna carry 6 scholly QB's? Or are we assuming 1-2 portal out?

And on an interesting note...who do we think legitimately replaces Tua? Mac Jones, Lia, Young?

I think Bama may be somewhat undecided right now about taking a 2nd 2021 class QB and will continue to evaluate and recruit some for now. Our chances of flipping Young are pretty good. Tyson will very likely redshirt. If Jones does well as a backup (ball security and not clamming up if/when he screws up), then Lia could play in 4 games and still redshirt too.

Speaking of Lia. Has he dropped weight like Tua?

4-star OLB Donell Harris 6-4/210 FL hudl

I just now removed Donell Harris from our 2021 Top Targets board and moved him down some on our 2020 board. Per 247 recruitng director Steve Wiltfong, Harris is definitely reclassifying to 2020. He said 247 will re-rank him in the 2020 class this week. Harris has opted to visit Texas A&M instead of Bama's Champion's Cookout. Wiltfong CBd Harris to ATM today.

ETA: This SECrb post quotes Wiltfong (VIP) about his CB pick. It appears Bama isn't in the thick of it (and may not be pushing) for him due to already having a great haul of 2020 edge rusher commits.

If the kid is already 18 and still can't put on weight then he won't be able to contribute for a while. Best of luck to him in College Station.
