McKinnley Jackson a 6-foot-3, 317-pound four-star defensive tackle out of George County, Mississippi is a key target for the Crimson Tide.
4* DT McKinnley Jackson 6-1.5/330 MS hudl
247 Evaluation -- Squatty, stout interior lineman that is heavy but doesn’t carry a lot of bad weight. Gives above average effort in pursuit to the sideline and downfield. More of a two-gap lineman than a penetrator. Can overpower high school competition. Has some good foundational athleticism and movement skills. Strong hands when he wants to use them. Plays too high given his physical stature. Relies on size and strength against overmatched competition. Has some scheme limitations. Needs to trim down and develop more athletic explosiveness. Likely power five starter with upside to be an impact player and mid-round NFL Draft potential with development.

Some pundit said that Washington has maxed out physically and now some posters here are aping what he said. While other pundits are saying Washington might be a generational talent at TE. I'd be interested in hearing what Scott Cochran has to say about Washington being maxed out physically.

I find "maxed out physically" as a negative funny when it comes to the elite prospects. What do they they want, a 7'2", 310 lb TE . Other than converting fat to muscle he has a college ready body. They are only here for 3-5 years. I'm sure guys like Adrian Peterson, Herschel Walker and Julio Jones were close to "maxed out" out of high school. I'll take them.

Cool, we have different opinions.
I prefer Washington over Gilbert at TE. Some "pundit" said Gilbert might be a better DE than TE too, but I've posted that more than once in the past year. Guess if someone else says it, I can't come to my own conclusion though.
Washington is already 250, you're not slapping that much more weight on him at TE. You're taking the bad off in college, then building it back on him. He's not Michael Williams, he's out there to catch not block.
Where as, personally, I see Gilbert holding 25 more pounds because I think he's better upside at DE. Most sites reclassified Washington as a TE because that's what he looks like and is, while Gilbert is still listed as an ATH.

In the SEC Recruiting board a 2021 kid we've offered Donell Harris, a DE out of Miami is supposedly reclassifying to the 2020 class. 247 has him rated as the number 1 recruit in Florida, number 1 DE, and number 4 overall recruit in the 2021 class.

DE Harris decommits from Miami, trying to reclassify to 2020 (247/Miami)
quote:
Miami got some unfavorable news on Thursday.
Booker T. Washington Top247 defensive end Donell Harris announced over social media that he is reopening his recruitment and decommitting from the Hurricanes. He also said that he's trying to reclassify from the Class of 2021 to the Class of 2020.
"I'm going to still consider Miami, but my dad just wanted me to open up my options and see what all these schools have to offer," Harris told 247Sports and InsideTheU when reached by phone. "Right now I'm not fully a 2020 – I got to take some classes – but I want to do that."
Harris, who is ranked by 247Sports as the nation's No. 4 overall prospect for the next cycle, has visited Alabama, Georgia, LSU, South Carolina and Florida State all in the past week. He expanded more on his decision to back off a near 11-month pledge to the local Hurricanes below.
"First of all I would like to say is that I am Miami. Everything about me is Miami," he wrote in a note on Twitter. "After talking things over with my family and coaches I understand that my college choice is going to be one of the biggest decisions to make when [it] comes to winning a natty and preparing me for the next level which is my ultimate goal. I will be reclassifying to the 2020 class. I also will be decommitting from the Univeristy of Miami and opening up my recruitment."
Harris becomes the second prospect in the Class of 2021 to decommit from Miami joining Top247 safety James Williams. The Hurricanes will likely continue to recruit the elite edge rusher seeing as how former UM defensive lineman Demetrius Jackson is Harris' defensive line coach at Booker T. Washington, but some connected to the recruitment believe that schools like Alabama, Georgia and Clemson might hold the inside track to land Harris' signature.
Miami now has nine prospects committed for the next cycle. The group – which still ranks No. 1 on the industry-generated 247Sports' Composite Team Rankings following Harris' decommitment – is headlined by Top247 running back Thad Franklin, Top247 defensive tackle Savion Collins, Top247 offensive lineman Laurence Seymore and Top247 linebacker Chamon Metayer. It also includes three-star wide receivers Romello Brinson and Kahlil Brantley as well as three-star linebacker Tyler Johnson, three-star defensive tackle Anthony Hundley and kicker Andres Borregales.

This is Alabama's 2020 class in its entirety (BamaOnLine)
quote:
Alabama is surging on the recruiting trail.
In the last week, the Crimson Tide staff has added three big pieces to its 2020 class, vaulting Bama to the No. 2 spot in the 247Sports Composite Team Recruiting Rankings. Nick Saban and company have gained ground on Clemson in the No. 1 spot, a program many didn't believe could be overcome in the cycle on the recruiting trail. Aside from the 2020 class, the Tide also added their first commitment in 2021 via a pledge from four-star cornerback Latrell McCutchin.
With the news developing seemingly by the hour the last few days, BamaOnLine catches you up on each commitment currently in the Tide's 2020 class, and their latest ranking among other details.
Take a look . . .

I figured this Donell Harris decommitment and reclassification would burn some Miami biscuits. I see here a thread was started today about Donell Harris and it has 45 pages so far LOL

Nice read on the Kennedy Commitment. Check near the bottom how Coach Saban compares Bama and Auburn!
Perhaps even more memorable was Saban’s pitch to Kennedy during his visit.
They were standing next to two tables, he said. One was clear of anything. The other had championship rings on it.
“I liked when he said, ‘Would you rather gamble on this table (pointing to the ring table) or the other table?' I said, ‘I’m gambling on the ring table.’"

Here is the post where I say, "At this rate we will have this class wrapped up by October!", and then we have 5 targets making announcements on the first day of the ESP. Recruiting is never boring.

Likely will be some kids leaving this class, there are 3 current commitments who I don't think will be part of this class.
Holden
Clark
J. Robinson
Might be one or two more asked to greyshirt if Bama gets the recruits they are looking to get.
A lot of spots still available for this class.

I'd add Latham to that list. I think he winds up at Ole Miss.

I can see Holden with his move, but I think Robinson is this year's Eddie Jackson special and I doubt Clark gets the boot based on what happened to his brother at Ohio State but you never know.
I agree with RJ91 that Latham could be a candidate. I'm interested to see if anything happens with the Hewitt-Trussville boys. Sometimes it feels like we may have a Christian Williams situation going on there.

That's not how it goes. It's about credits in certain subjects. It doesn't take two years to get the last two years of high school credit. I went to a magnet high school and we had way more credit hours than those required of the state where my high school is located. This kid likely was going to be in school for but a few hours each day his last year of high school. He can probably work on the necessary hours he needs to graduate this summer and all of next school year and fulfill his credit hours requirement for the State of Florida.
