If Tosh comes back to college football after this upcoming season I think he goes back out west. USC would pay him all kinds of money.

has anyone given any thought that tosh's move may have been as much his decision as sabans. tosh took a pay cut yes, but now he has enough free time to actually learn how to run an nfl style defense. stepping out of the fire of year round recruiting to work on his future. just a thought.

Yep... West Coast 'cruitin' could be pretty sparse for a while??? Worry that if Sark is making lots of trips to the West he may not be able to find a meeting when the stresses get up close and he may fall from grace.
I for one am just hoping that Bama can go 2 cycles without replacing co-ordinators ...lord, I don't even think to wish for 3 or possibly 4. IF they could maybe someone would raid CU or dip back into uGa again.. spread the pain

I agree . Guarantee Anoma would have had a role for most teams in the country even if it was just 3rd down rusher. Ray will prolly blow up this year like Q and we will basically have gotten 1 season out of him. Frustrating

Those bringing up Sark's alcoholism are really showing their ignorance because you sound like you don't understand the disease and being a coach at a high profile program. Sark left Bama and went and coached in the NFL and from what I've heard he maintained his sobriety. I think Sark will be fine recruiting on the west coast.

Imo, there's some premature speculation-driven worrying up in here. We had a lot of new staff at this point last year and we landed the #1 2019 class and 6th highest rated class of all time. It met all needs very well and was nearly complete in December. And we're off to a good start for 2020, with 10 commits and the #1-ranked class.

Very frustrating.
People aren't noticing that trend you just pointed out.
We get ONE year from our best DL recently. One major year from Payne, one from Q, we will get one from Ray and Phidarian. We will get one from Barmore.
We could do so much more if we'd not panic and shorten our rotation. We should be running at least 6 consistently in big games (for our three man line). We shorten to 3 or 4.
It hurts us tremendously. Then our DL gets gassed and we struggle.

As long as Saban is here , recruiting is not a concern of mine
Posted on 2/10/19 at 12:18 pm to YStar
Sure they will make mistakes but that’s how you LEARN. With the O we have now, we are killing people early in the year , heck let em play
Posted on 2/10/19 at 12:22 pm to Bear88
Heck we used to look like a line change in hockey on the DL, not recently

Payne played quite a bit as a freshman. Started as a sophomore.

Saban didn't want to keep Tosh. The guy was making 1.1 million up just a little from the year before when he was just a position coach. No way is Tosh making 900k as a position coach with the Browns. JM
What was Saban supposed to do? After Tosh had moved up to DC, he likely wasn't going to demote one of the best recruiters on staff...after he saw what he needed to see of Tosh as DC, he helped him find another gig so that he could move on and as previously mentioned...learn how to coach/gameplan and call plays on a D in the NFL (assuming he climbs his way up the ranks, and I think he will) that is the experience Saban got under Belichick in Cleveland. It sucks to lose a recruiter as good as he is, but Bama under Saban will survive
Staff TO will always be a part of the "process" under Saban

Tosh is a great recruiter but Bama was fine finishing one or top 5 before Tosh and will continue to do so after him. Clemson is winning titles without top 3 or even top five classes some years. Talent is nothing when it’s confused or uncommitted.

Payne played since he was a freshman what are you talking about? And Q played a lot the year before last. You guys complain so much like we are a losing team.

Im not an addict, but have a very close family member who is.. not trying to be all holier than thou; but, from what I am told... stress and back in the old familiar places/people present opportunities to miss meetings or try to deal on your own. And having witnessed the fails, just saying.
The stress of working for Saban and the almost 24x7 need to plan, recruit, develope staff and players, just seems to be major stressers. I am very hopeful the SS can handle it all and not miss opps for meetings; but, know he will need them. My family member is not that far from his age and tells me that the struggle is always there...
I was also under the impression that the group of coaches from 17 were not good at recruiting for whatever reason and they were replaced with agressive recruiters who may or may not have been good at coaching the team up. Now the new staff is supposedly better at coaching the team up and are not as "agressive" at recruiting.
I have faith that Saban will find a way to win and I truly hope he stays until he has accomplished all he wants to accomplish. If he were to never win another NC, just sit back and look at what he has done... who else could have done so much? No one ever has, can Dabo maintain? we will see.
No offense meant to anyone one especially SS or any of us who struggle with issues. We are all F'd up one way or the other and may we all just Roll Tide.

Yea not sure why we have this board or threads concerning Bama football . I guess we shouldn’t do anything g but sing praises about how great we are 24/7. I am glad CNS isn’t afraid to evaluate and CHANGE Philosophies, strategies , staff etc when he sees a need like some of you

Look I bitch prolly less than anyone on here . I am about as easy going a person as you will meet but the DL rotation has irked me all year. I disagree with your point of Q playing a lot last year as well. The rotation has been my “hill to die on “ and I am sticking with it
Not bitching about Saban or the job he has done in the least

Phidarian plays as well.
You've missed the point of the discussion because you're being defensive instead of receptive.
During our big games this is where we suffer. This is where Saban shortens the leash and our rotation reduces.
This is why we get gassed running 50 plays against Clemson.

If Kirby lands Tosh you can hand Georgia recruiting titles for the next five years.
Kirby was after him. Tosh allowed Saban to "place him" in the NFL for further training. I know that sounds weird, but it's apparently true.
CNS had no choice but to send Tosh elsewhere. The NCAA was breathing down his neck. He'd been turned in by several schools and had gotten sloppy in his recruiting (which Kirby obviously doesn't care about right now, as they're going 120 in a 65 mph zone).
No, there's nothing to worry about now.
