Quindarius Robinson is a LB at 6 4.5 270lbs?
That's crazy for a HS kid.

247 lists him at 207 and rivals at 200.

Apparently 270 is a typo (207) by al.com, so I added a note to that post.

What are Tide's biggest needs in 2020? (BamaOnLine)

JJ Evans
quote:

The Crimson Tide hit on several needs in its 2019 recruiting class to add depth and, in some cases, potential immediate impact to its roster heading into the fall.

Here, BamaOnLine takes a look at some of the biggest needs as we turn our focus to the 2020 class and beyond.

Wide Receiver

Alabama signed the top receivers class in 2017, headlined by Jerry Jeudy, DeVonta Smith and Henry Ruggs III. All three will likely have 2020 NFL Draft decisions to make next offseason. Couple that with the Crimson Tide opting to sign only one receiver in the 2019 recruiting cycle after signing just two in 2018, the position becomes an important need in 2020.

And it’s a good cycle for receivers. Nick Saban and his staff already have two of the top wideouts in the South committed in Dazalin Worsham and Javon Baker, but the staff won’t stop there. Other important names early on include 5-star Julian Fleming, 4-stars Rakim Jarrett, Jermaine Burton, Eddie Williams, JJ Evans, and 3-star Xzavier Henderson, to name a few.

Linebacker

Linebacker in general will be a need both on the inside and outside. After the 2019 season, Alabama will lose Terrell Lewis, Anfernee Jennings and Joshua McMillon from its linebacking corps, and could potentially see Dylan Moses go pro. The Tide added several talented linebackers in 2019 in Kevin Harris, King Mwikuta, Shane Lee and Christian Harris, three of which are already on campus with the team.

Alabama already has two important commitments from 4-star inside ‘backer Jackson Bratton from Muscle Shoals and 5-star edge rusher Chris Braswell out of Maryland. Other important names include 5-star do-it-all Tide legacy Reggie Grimes, 5-star ILBs Justin Flowe and Antoine Sampah, 5-star OLBs Mekhail Sherman and Sav'ell Smalls and 4-star Birmingham native Quandarrius Robinson.

Tight End

This of course could be predicated upon what happens via the transfer portal this offseason, something Nick Saban said was a possibility they looked into at the tight end position. But with Kedrick James’ status still up in the air, Alabama doesn’t have a whole lot of depth at the position.

The Tide already has one important commitment from Ohio native Caden Clark, but expect UA to continue going after more 2020 tight ends. Only four offers have been extended thus far with Clark being one of them. Another intriguing name to keep an eye on that Jeff Banks visited recently is 5-star Las Vegas product Darnell Washington, the No. 1 tight end in the country, per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

...will 100% end up at auburn because his name is Quandarrius. There's no point in discussing him further on a Bama forum.

He recently decommitted from Auburn after the Alabama Junior Day. So, he might be waiting on a spot.

Would love to see Bama sign a Top Notch (5*) TE, but remembering that Irv Smith, Jr was a 3* as well, I am not too worried about Clark.

I agree but if we could ever get an Arik Gilbert that would be a game changer.

Montevallo 4-star WR JJ Evans talks coach visits, commitment timetable (al.com, 2/4)

quote:

The recruitment of Montevallo receiver JJ Evans is definitely heating up.

Three SEC head coaches -- Alabama's Nick Saban, Auburn's Gus Malzahn and Texas A&M's Jimbo Fisher -- visited the school last week, even though NCAA rules prevented them from sitting down for a 1-on-1 conversation with the junior.

Evans, a 6-foot-2, 185-pounder, caught 74 passes for 1,706 yards and 18 touchdowns, finishing less than 100 yards shy of the AHSAA single-season record for receiving yards. He earned a spot on the Class 4A All-State Team and was one of three finalists for the Class 4A Back of the Year award.

“It’s amazing. It’s like everything I ever dreamed for,” Evans said of the coaches' visits. "I know now I'm going to have it harder, because people know my name and I'll have a target on my back. I really have to work hard now," Evans said.

"JJ has done a good job of focusing on the coming season and preparing to get better every day," Montevallo coach Brandon Wilcox said. "The things college coaches tell me they like about him is his size and potential to be a big-bodied receiver who also has the ability to run the entire route tree. He can go up and play the ball in the vertical passing game, but also can run intricate routes that guys who are 6-foot-3 typically can't get in and out of."

"It feels good that I know people are starting to notice me," he said, "and I'm getting out there, but I also have to remember what I did to get where I am. If I want to go to the next level, I have to do more than I did to get this. I look at it as it's cool and a lot of kids want to be in my shoes, but I also have to remember I have to work hard. I can't just stop what I'm doing."

Wilcox said Evans improved dramatically as a blocker last season, something that shows his hard work and dedication. “When he has the ball in his hands, he is trying to score,” Wilcox said. “The thing that sets him apart to me is what he does when he doesn’t have the ball. I’m excited to see him continue to develop his game in our system and become a complete player.”

The traditional National Signing Day is Wednesday, when college programs will put the finishing touches on the Class of 2019 and officially begin focusing on the Class of 2020. Evans now holds 19 scholarship offers, including Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Southern Cal, Georgia and Tennessee.

Currently rated a 4-star recruit, Evans said he plans to take his official visits this spring and summer and likely make his commitment before the 2019 high school season kicks off in August.

TE DARNELL WASHINGTON

TE Darnell Washington - The big pass-catcher from Las Vegas (Nev.) Desert Pines is the nation's No. 1-rated tight end in the 2020 class and has amassed over 30 scholarship offers. His length makes him a matchup nightmare over the middle against linebackers and Washington has a very wide catch radius.

WR JERMAINE BURTON

WR Jermaine Burton – The nation's No. 10-rated receiver in the 2020 class, Burton made it to The Opening Finals last year heading into his junior season and looks to punch his return ticket. The 6-foot-1, 195-pound wideout has tremendous speed and quickness, and really thrives in the competitive setting. He holds 20 offers and named a top five of Miami, LSU, Alabama, Tennessee and Georgia a couple months ago.
