It’s never good to lose 5 games at home

I think we’ll see some rumors/stories emerge over the next few days that explain what is happening behind the scenes.
Stuff is flying around this morning.

What exactly is the Sexton rumor? Just that he is getting superstar treatment and the staff doesn't care as much about the others?

At the beginning of the year, I was told by a pretty good source that Sexton was a handful in the locker room and there were some problems related to team chemistry that involved him. I didn’t believe it all that much and blew it off. Now I’m starting to think that could be a possibility.
But Collin doesn’t seem like that type of person. I really don’t think he’s doing anything wrong. It may be something like the other players are jealous of him or they’re mad at Coach Avery for letting him get so many shots or whatever. All I know is when I watch this team, there’s something off

I don’t think Sexton himself is the problem. He might be made into a scapegoat because it’s easy to blame the 1-and-done hot shot freshman but I think there are bigger problems there.

What Avery has shown consistently throughout his coaching career at all levels is when it’s crunch time (NBA playoffs, stretch run in college) his teams wilt against lesser competition. That won’t work.
This is not a shot at Collin, I think he’s done everything asked of him and then some. But it’s evident that the staff, maybe Avery in particular, has played favorites with him to a degree. That’s on the coach and it’s destroyed the team. I do think we have a couple of bad attitudes on the team that I wish we would jettison. One in particular who has been mentioned over and over and has not lived up to his billing.
Bottom line is we have a coach that knows nothing about controlling a team and nothing about performance under pressure. Time to cut bait.

Don't buy the first part because of what u said at beginning of the 2nd theory. I suspect it's the 2nd theory where a couple of older guys might be jealous. Again it's not like sexton gets 20 shots a game, he's too unselfish if anything.

Fans of an underachieving basketball team looking for places to point fingers. The players might be doing the same, but that happens on every team that is struggling.
As far as Sexton, he's an odd fellow that might rub some people the wrong way, but I think he's a good dude and a team player. I don't think any of our players are bad teammates. But, the more you lose, the worse good teammates become.

Agree with everything you said.
If he can't handle a roster of NBA personalities without losing control, how the hell can we expect him to control 18-20 year olds who react with emotion?
This experiment was worth the risk but it's clear right now that it won't get better. His problem isn't beating good teams. Just like in the NBA, his problem is getting his teams to sustain and finish.

Finally getting brave enough to get back on here after last night.
I've been taking some pretty heavy doses of oxycodone and that game was still painful.
I think you could put AJ Jr, Herb, Galin, and Giddens on the floor with 2 basketballs and no defenders and you would still get a shot clock violation as many times as you get a basket.
Avery's changing of the lineup and then the rotations that he ends up with on the court are one of the causes for scoring problems. When he completes his first sub pattern he usually ends up with 4 players on the court that have no ability to create a shot on their own.
Our offense usually consists of about 4 dribble hand offs (one to the wing, then two up top, then another on the wing) then whoever ends up with the ball calls for a ball screen with 10 seconds left on the shot clock. That's not real tough to scout and game plan a defense for.
I really don't understand after you go about 4 minutes of no energy, why not do something to shake things up. Go full court helter skelter for a couple minutes to wake the guys up and wake the crowd up. Sure you might give up some easy baskets but at least it can get your guys blood pumping!
Sorry for the rambling. my head hurts.

Don’t know if anyone has mentioned this on here yet about these tweets, but I would take very little stock in them, if at all. The twitter account is an old guy who does little but tweet angry things about Bama basketball, usually in less than complete sentences.
The only reason I’ve ever seen him before is that he responds to nearly every one of Cecil Hurts’ tweets lol. I wouldn’t start basing any narratives about team chemistry based on his rantings .
(Obligatory recognition that I have a very low post count...just a lurker)

Yeah, some of the lineups he has out there together are puzzling. I often wonder who is going to score. Most of the time the answer is one guy, or nobody.

Herb would turn it over and Giddens would be out after 3 defensive possessions for foul trouble.
